Shape the future of healthcare and public buildings To strengthen COWI’s customer-centric approach, we are looking for a Market Director to drive business development and coordinate sales efforts within Health & Public Institutions in our Buildings & Industry sector. This is a key role in one of COWI’s strategic growth markets, covering healthcare, education, research, cultural facilities and public development projects across Denmark and the Nordics. You will help position COWI on major hospital developments, universities, public institutions, refurbishment programmes and other complex projects that contribute to the development of society. What makes the role unique is its focused market focus. Unlike traditional line management roles, your focus will be on customers, business development and growth. Working closely with specialists, project managers and technical experts, you will build relationships, identify opportunities and grow COWI’s presence in the market. You will also become part of an experienced business development community that shares best practices and drives commercial excellence across COWI. As part of a team of 25 experienced market professionals across COWI and Arkitema, you will work at the forefront of our business development efforts. Reporting to the Senior Market Director, you will collaborate closely with colleagues across the organization to deepen client relationships, unlock strategic opportunities, and lead pursuits from early engagement through to project win, contributing directly to the continued growth of our business. With increasing investments in healthcare, public buildings and sustainable transformation, the market offers significant growth potential. Your sector insight, commercial mindset and customer understanding will help position COWI as a preferred partner for public clients and healthcare organisations across the Nordic region. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Grow business development and growth across the Health & Public Institutions market segment by identifying, prioritizing, and converting strategic opportunities.
• Build and maintain close relationships with key customers, partners, and decisionmakers, acting as a trusted advisor and Key Account Manager for selected clients.
• Develop and manage a healthy sales pipeline, manage Go/No-Go decisions, and drive capture planning for major pursuits and tenders.

Lead and support complex proposal processes, ensuring compelling value propositions and effective collaboration across disciplines and business units.

• Provide direction and coordination for the Business Development team supporting the market segment, ensuring effective collaboration and delivery of market priorities.
• Monitor market trends, upcoming investments, and customer needs to help shape market strategies and long-term growth initiatives.
• Represent COWI externally through customer meetings, industry networks, conferences, and strategic partnerships.

To perform well in this role, it is essential that you bring solid market insight and a well-established network within healthcare, public institutions or the built environment sector. Equally important is your ability to build internal alliances and leverage the collective expertise of the organisation rather than acting alone. On top of that, you will have:

• A relevant educational background such as engineering, architecture, business or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience in business development, client management, or market leadership within healthcare, public institutions, architecture, construction, or engineering consultancy.
• Deep knowledge of public-sector customers, procurement processes, and market dynamics, combined with a well-established professional network.
• Demonstrated skill in building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and converting opportunities into long-term partnerships.
• Experience contributing to large and complex tenders, proposals, and commercial negotiations.
• Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, direction, and coordination across Business Development teams, account managers, and framework agreement holders, ensuring a shared focus on market growth and client development without formal personnel responsibility.
• Solid communication and stakeholder management skills, with professional proficiency in both Danish and English.
