We're looking for a Marine Project Controller to join our Finance team, playing a key role in supporting the financial management of marine projects and vessel operations across their full lifecycle. As a trusted partner to Marine Operations and the wider Finance team, you will help ensure robust project accounting, accurate financial reporting and insightful performance analysis. You'll work closely with Operations Managers to translate complex operational activity into meaningful financial information that supports better decision-making and stronger business performance. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of finance and operations, combining technical accounting expertise with commercial awareness and analytical thinking. Technically speaking… You will take ownership of the financial control and reporting processes for assigned marine projects and vessels, ensuring financial performance is accurately captured, analysed and communicated. Working with operational stakeholders, you will develop a strong understanding of project execution, key commercial drivers, operational risks and performance indicators. You will play a key role in project accounting and revenue recognition activities, maintaining project financial records, supporting Percentage of Completion calculations and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and reporting requirements. You will coordinate month-end close activities, prepare accruals, validate project costs and revenues, investigate discrepancies and help maintain the integrity of financial reporting. Forecasting and performance management will form a significant part of the role. Working closely with Operations Managers, you will maintain project forecasts, analyse variances, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and provide meaningful financial insight into project and vessel performance. Rather than simply reporting results, you'll help explain what is driving performance and support the business in taking appropriate actions. You will also support customer billing, cash collection and working capital management activities, helping ensure invoices are issued accurately and on time while assisting in the resolution of invoicing and collection matters. • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or a related discipline.
• 2-3 years' experience in Project Controlling, Project Accounting, Management Accounting, FP&A or Operational Finance.
• Good understanding of project accounting, revenue recognition and month-end close processes.
• Experience supporting forecasting, budgeting and financial reporting activities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong Excel and financial systems skills.
• Excellent communication and ability to work collaboratively across operational and finance functions.

It would also help, but is not essential, if you bring:

• Experience within Marine, Offshore, Energy, Engineering, Construction or other project-based industries.
• Experience working with NetSuite or similar ERP systems.
• A professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent), either completed or in progress.
• Experience working with project-based revenue recognition methodologies, including Percentage of Completion accounting.
