About the Team We are looking for an experienced Manager, Tax Technology to lead tax platform projects for Wolt and Deliveroo within our growing Tax Team. As Wolt and Deliveroo onboard onto the global unified tax platform and a single tax calculation engine (Vertex), this role owns the functional tax leadership that turns business and VAT requirements into configured, tested, live capabilities, and leads the offshore Wolt & Deliveroo implementation team delivering that work day to day. As DoorDash continues to grow its international footprint, we are looking for a candidate with deep, hands-on experience in VAT regimes who can lead a team, collaborate cross-functionally, and own the delivery of tax features and new-platform feature / new-market / new-partnership launches across Wolt and Deliveroo. About the Role You will report to the Senior Manager of the Tax Calculation Platform & Mx Operations and lead tax platform and business projects for Wolt and Deliveroo. You will manage a team to deliver day-to-day VAT configuration and testing, and partner closely with Tax Engineering, the Wolt and Deliveroo Tax teams, Tax Product, and other stakeholders — gathering business and VAT requirements, translating them into tax-system functional requirements for configuration and testing, and reviewing Technical Design Documents (TDDs) to provide functional tax expertise back to Tax Engineering. The primary focus of this position is end-to-end delivery of VAT tax solutions across the Wolt and Deliveroo platforms — new product, market, partnership launches and legislative changes, roadmap alignment with Wolt and Deliveroo's international expansion, and day-to-day leadership of the team executing that delivery — with an understanding of how data flows from upstream systems through the tax engine to downstream reporting. Rather than handing off requirements to the Vertex Center of Excellence team, you will apply your own Vertex knowledge to help influence the functional design and determine the specific Vertex configuration a solution requires. • Lead tax platform and business projects across the Wolt and Deliveroo platforms, including new product, market, partnership launches, and legislative changes.
• Gather business and VAT requirements and translate them into tax-system functional requirements for configuration, testing and delivery.
• Review BRDs, PRDs, and TDDs for VAT tax-system implications and provide functional tax expertise back to Tax Engineering.
• Define testing requirements and oversee validations across unit, integration, E2E, shadow, and post-launch phases.
• Align tax engine priorities and the integrated delivery plan with the Wolt and Deliveroo international market roadmaps, and represent tax platform status updates to Tax and Engineering leadership.
• Trace VAT-relevant data from upstream systems through Vertex to downstream reporting and compliance.
• Serve as the senior functional tax leader for Wolt and Deliveroo, escalating risk and driving cross-functional alignment across Tax, Product, Engineering, and Data.
• Manage and develop a team supporting this area, allocating workload, establishing QA checkpoints, and providing structured knowledge transfer on complex processes.

We're excited about you because…

• You have 8+ years of indirect tax or indirect tax technology experience, with several years working directly in VAT regimes.
• You are familiar with VAT tax requirements and can translate them into system requirements.
• Hands-on experience implementing or configuring Vertex O Series, and ability to review Vertex configurations and testing documentation and provide feedback.
• Hand-on experience implementing or configuring ERP tax integration (e.g. Netsuite) with Vertex tax engine.
• Experience with multi-country VAT implementations and EU VAT compliance; familiarity with non-US indirect tax regimes more broadly is a plus.
• Demonstrated people-leadership experience, including managing, coaching, workload delegation, and quality oversight.
• You can review technical design documents and provide functional tax expertise to engineering and product.
• You have familiarity with US sales and use tax, food and beverage, and retail tax context.
• You understand how tax data flows from upstream transaction systems through a tax engine to downstream reporting, including both in-house systems or ERP system integration flows.
• Program or project management experience across dependent teams, including building plans, milestones, and dependency maps, and driving them to completion.
• Comfort operating cross-functionally and building trust with partner teams without always holding formal authority over their roadmaps.
• Experience in use of SQL or Snowflake for data self-serve, issue investigation or testing validation.
• Experience in use of API testing tools like Postman, SOAP UI and ability to read XML and JSON logs.
• Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, or Computer Science degree.
• You are fluent in leveraging multiple AI tools on the market (e.g., Claude Cowork, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor) on a daily basis across all of your assigned tasks, and you actively look for creative ways to apply them to enhance processes and create efficiency gains.
