Mainframe Lead

Role Overview We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Lead to lead the design, development, and delivery of mainframe solutions. The role requires strong hands-on technical expertise along with the ability to guide a team and ensure high-quality, secure, and reliable production delivery. Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical design and development of mainframe components, interfaces, and enhancements.
• Translate requirements into technical tasks, estimates, sequencing, and acceptance criteria.
• Be hands-on with complex or high-risk development activities.
• Ensure solutions meet performance, security, reliability, and maintainability standards.
• Guide developers on technical approach, coding standards, and design decisions.
• Conduct code reviews, design walkthroughs, defect triage, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Mentor team members and strengthen overall mainframe capability.
• Define and ensure unit, integration, and regression testing standards.
• Own build, release, deployment readiness, rollback, and production verification.
• Drive root-cause analysis, defect prevention, and permanent fixes.
• Collaborate with architects, BAs, QA, DevOps, and support teams.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, planning, estimation, and dependency management.
• Maintain technical documentation, standards, and reusable assets.

Must-Have Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with strong Mainframe expertise.
• Proven experience as a Mainframe Technical Lead / Lead Engineer.
• Experience leading small to mid-sized technical teams.
• Strong hands-on development and technical design experience.
• Experience across the full software delivery lifecycle.
• Strong focus on code quality, testing, production stability, and troubleshooting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or equivalent experience.
