What you'll do

M&A Analyst (Researcher) Stockholm | Full-time Join our team in Stockholm and help business owners find the right buyer for the company they have built. As an M&A Analyst (Researcher) you identify the most likely acquirers for Benchmark International’s clients. This requires thorough market research using our wide range of M&A databases and sources. You work closely with the deal team to set the parameters of each search, and to review and discuss the results of your analysis. About Benchmark International Benchmark International is one of the world’s leading sell-side advisory firms. To date we have completed more than 1,700 company sales with a combined value of over USD 11 billion, and PitchBook ranks us the number one privately owned sell-side M&A advisor globally. We work exclusively on behalf of company owners, delivering bespoke exit strategies and international buyer reach through our proprietary sales transaction platform and a team of more than 400 specialists across 15 offices worldwide. We opened our Stockholm office in 2026, and it now anchors our Nordic M&A practice, providing business owners across the region with access to the same platform, buyer network and processes used across the firm. The role For every new client you build an understanding of the business, its sector and what makes it attractive, and then map out who is most likely to acquire it: competitors, adjacent players, international trade buyers and financial buyers. Your buyer lists form the foundation of every sale process we run. In practice, this means you:

  • Research each new client’s business, sector and market position to understand who would value it most.
  • Identify, screen and prioritise strategic and financial buyers, in the Nordics and internationally, using databases, company filings and wider market research.
  • Build structured buyer lists with a clear rationale for each candidate and refine them together with the deal team.
  • Analyse transaction activity, market data and buyer profiles to spot patterns and new buyer groups.
  • Support the outreach to buyers: preparing contact lists, sending NDAs and teasers, and tracking responses.
  • Maintain our CRM and buyer database, so that buyer data and process information are always accurate and up to date.

What we are looking for You are analytically strong, thorough and curious about how companies and industries fit together. You enjoy working through large amounts of data, you know where to look when the answer is not obvious, and you keep your work well organised. We are looking for someone who is:

  • Fluent in Swedish and English, written and spoken.
  • Comfortable with numbers, and quick to grasp commercial and financial information.
  • Analytical and resourceful: you find, sort and interpret large volumes of information, and separate the relevant from the irrelevant.
  • Meticulous and structured: you are accurate with details, keep track of several processes at once, and make sure nothing falls between the cracks.
  • Confident and professional in how you communicate, with buyers and clients as well as colleagues.
  • Skilled in Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Experience with company databases or CRM systems is a plus.
  • Educated to university level. Your field of study matters less than how you think and work.

Experience in M&A, finance or consulting is not required. We welcome different backgrounds and are glad to invest in people who want to learn, take responsibility and grow. What we offer

  • A central role in every deal. The buyers you identify are the starting point of every process we run.
  • Real variety. You get a look behind the scenes at a wide range of companies and keep learning new sectors and business models.
  • A view of the whole market. You build a broad understanding of who is buying what, in the Nordics and internationally.
  • Room to grow. You get close guidance and structured training, and as part of a newly opened office you help shape how we work and grow together with the team.
  • A professional working environment in central Stockholm, with space for focus and collaboration.
  • Market-competitive compensation, including a bonus scheme.
