Legal Counsel, IP & Brand Protection (Maternity Leave Cover)

We are looking for a Legal Counsel to support Ferm Living's legal function during a maternity leave period, with a primary focus on intellectual property protection and enforcement. In addition, you will support the business on commercial contracts, compliance matters, and day-to-day legal operations. About Ferm Living and the role Ferm Living is a Danish design company founded in 2006 creating furniture, accessories and lighting products. Our in-house design team works from our home in Copenhagen, merging our Scandinavian ethos with global skills and traditions. Our collections are characterized by soft forms, rich textures, and intriguing details that allow you to create composed atmospheres with a touch of the unexpected. As Legal Counsel, you will play a key role in supporting the business across a broad range of legal matters. You will work closely with stakeholders across Sales, Marketing, E-commerce, Operations, Product Development, Finance and HR, while also coordinating with external legal advisers in multiple jurisdictions. The role combines intellectual property protection and enforcement, commercial legal support, compliance, and business partnering in an international design company with a strong focus on brand protection and growth. You will report directly to the CEO and will be expected to work independently, take ownership of matters, and provide pragmatic, business-oriented legal advice. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate Ferm Living's IP enforcement activities, including design, trademark and copyright infringements cases worldwide.
• Manage online brand protection activities, domain disputes and cooperation with external providers.
• Support and manage Ferm Living's IP portfolio, including design and trademark filings and renewals.
• Provide legal support on commercial agreements and business initiatives.
• Partner with HR on employment law matters, including employment contracts, workplace policies, employee relations and day-to-day employment law support.
• Advice on consumer law, marketing law and compliance matters.
• Act as a trusted legal advisor to stakeholders across the organization.

Your Profile:

• Qualified legal counsel with solid experience in intellectual property law and capability in contract drafting.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience from a law firm or in-house legal department.
• Hands-on experience with IP enforcement and IP management.
• Experience managing external counsel and international IP matters.
• Commercial mindset and ability to provide pragmatic advice.
• Strong stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent in English and Danish.
• Strong digital skills and confidence working with legal tech tools, Microsoft 365 and AI-assisted workflows.
