Lead Data Engineer & Solution Architect

Type of employment: Contract Start Date: ideally 1st of November 2026 End Date: estimated 30th of April 2027 – the assignment is starting with the 6 months, with very strong possibility to be prolonged Number of positions: 1 Location: Svenljunga, Sweden Ways of working: hybrid – with onsite presence: 3-4 days per week Workload Allocation: 100% Languages: English fluent and Swedish language highly desirable Description: About the Assignment Our client is continuing its data transformation journey following the successful establishment of a modern Microsoft Fabric-based data platform. The next phase focuses on scaling the platform, onboarding new business capabilities, improving data trust, and enabling future analytics and AI initiatives. We are looking for an experienced Lead Data Engineer & Solution Architect to take technical ownership of the platform and drive the next stage of its evolution. This person will serve as the architectural lead within a cross-functional core team and work closely with business stakeholders, delivery leads, analysts, and engineers. Key Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the target architecture for the enterprise data platform
• Define technical standards, engineering patterns, and best practices
• Lead architecture and design decisions across data ingestion, transformation, semantic models, and reporting
• Ensure scalability, performance, security, and maintainability of the platform
• Establish CI/CD practices, DevOps processes, monitoring, and operational guardrails
• Support onboarding of new source systems, acquisitions, and business domains
• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions
• Coach and guide data engineers and technical team members
• Contribute to data governance, data quality, metadata, lineage, and ownership models
• Support future analytics, AI, and advanced data initiatives

The role owns the "how" of the platform and is expected to safeguard architectural integrity while enabling business teams to deliver value. Required Experience Must Have

• 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Architecture, or Analytics Engineering
• Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale data platforms
• Strong experience with Microsoft Fabric
• Deep knowledge of:
• Data Lake and Lakehouse architectures
• Medallion architecture
• Data warehouse design
• Data integration and ETL/ELT frameworks
• Data governance and data quality practices
• Hands-on experience with:
• Power BI
• SQL and T-SQL
• Azure Data Platform services
• CI/CD and DevOps practices
• Experience working directly with business stakeholders and product owners
• Strong leadership and communication skills

Preferred

• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 data integration
• Experience from manufacturing, retail, distribution, or supply chain environments
• Experience defining semantic models and enterprise KPI frameworks
• Experience supporting AI and advanced analytics initiatives
• Swedish speaking
