Laborer - Part Time

Date Posted Friday, October 16, 2026 Department Public Works Compensation $20 per hour Hours 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Deadline Friday, November 6, 2026 Position Objectives The Borough of Fair Lawn is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented individual to join our Buildings and Grounds Department. This part-time role focuses primarily on essential janitorial duties and light building maintenance tasks may also be required. Duties And Responsibilities

• Perform routine daily cleaning, including dusting, sweeping, mopping floors, vacuuming, and emptying trash receptacles;
• Maintain and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, and public common areas.
• Restock paper goods, soap and other facility supplies, as needed;
• Handle light maintenance duties, such as changing light bulbs, minor touch-up painting and basic facility upkeep;
• Report any larger maintenance issues, safety hazards or needed repairs to the department supervisor; and
• Assist with event setups and other general grounds/facilities tasks as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Previous experience in janitorial work, custodial duties or general building maintenance is preferred, but not required;
• Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently and follow safety protocols;
• Physical capability to stand for extended periods, bend, reach and lift up to 50 pounds;
• Punctuality and dependability, with a strict adherence to the early morning 6:00 AM start time; and
• Ability to perform tasks independently.
