What you'll do

NitroVolt is a Danish deep-tech startup developing novel electrochemical processes and scaling them from beaker to demonstration scale. We run a fully equipped electrochemistry lab, are building a digital twin of our processes, and have recently expanded our analytical capabilities with an ICP-OES. We're now looking for a talented and proactive Lab Manager & Analytical Technician to join our team. Role Overview This position combines three roles: keeping our lab running safely and smoothly (approx. 30% Lab Manager), running our new ICP-OES and turning its output into reliable data (approx. 40% Analytical Technician), and laying the digital foundations for an expanded, increasingly automated lab (approx. 30% Lab Digitalization). You will be an integral part of our team of scientists and engineers, acting as their go-to person for analytical measurements, and will interface with suppliers and other lab stakeholders. Key Responsibilities As Lab Manager (approx. 30%): · Operations & Equipment: Oversee day-to-day lab operations, including maintenance, calibration, servicing and troubleshooting of equipment, and sourcing of new equipment. · Inventory & Procurement: Manage chemicals, consumables and equipment: ordering, receiving, stocking and keeping accurate records. · Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety protocols, chemical risk assessments (CRA), safety data sheets (SDS), waste disposal and HSE compliance. · Organization & Onboarding: Keep the lab organized and clean, and provide safety training and lab orientation for new team members and visitors. As Analytical Technician (approx. 40%): · ICP-OES Operation: Own our ICP-OES, running measurements approx. one day per week, including sample preparation, calibration and QA/QC with standards, blanks and reference materials. · Data Processing & Reporting: Spend approx. one day per week processing, quality-checking and reporting results, including detection limits and uncertainties. · Method Development: Develop and validate robust multi-element methods for complex matrices, handling interferences and matrix effects. · Analytical Point of Contact: Plan sample campaigns with the researchers, prioritize requests, and maintain the instrument, logbooks and SOPs. As Lab Digitalization Lead (approx. 30%): As we scale, we will expand and automate our lab to generate data that is not available today, and extend our digital twin upstream to accelerate R&D. Over the first 12 months, you will lay the foundations for this: · Data Logging & Architecture: Establish systematic logging of instrument and experimental data with consistent metadata and sample traceability, and design the storage, formats and pipelines that make it ready to feed the digital twin. · Analysis Tools: Build scripts and tools that automate routine data processing and reporting, starting with the ICP-OES workflow. · LLM & AI Agent Integration: Prototype and implement LLMs and AI agents in our lab workflows, e.g., for data processing, documentation and experiment planning, with a view to scaling operations. · Automation Roadmap: Scout automation solutions and help define the specifications for the lab's future expansion. Qualifications · Analytical Chemistry Expertise: Proven hands-on experience in analytical chemistry, ideally ICP-OES or ICP-MS. We particularly value a track record of performing analyses for others (e.g., service lab, core facility) or in tight collaboration with other researchers, beyond your own research. · Hands-On Problem-Solver: You enjoy troubleshooting and independently resolving equipment issues, reading manuals and contacting suppliers without constant oversight. · Meticulous & Organized: Excellent attention to detail in managing inventory, purchases and records. · Data & Coding Skills: Solid coding experience (e.g., Python) for data processing and automation. Experience with databases, data pipelines or LLM/agent-based tools, and a genuine interest in the field, is a significant plus. · Communicator & Collaborator: Strong communication skills and ease working with internal teams and external stakeholders. · Lab Experience: Proven experience in a chemistry lab is essential; prior lab manager experience is highly valued. Why Join NitroVolt? · Opportunity to be at the forefront of sustainable technology and make a significant impact. · Collaborative and innovative startup culture with a passionate and dedicated team. · The chance to shape the digital and automation backbone of a growing R&D lab from the ground up. · Flexible working environment with opportunities for professional growth and development. Terms of Employment Start date: 1 November 2026 or later. Salary: DKK 50,000 per month, including pension. Application Process For any questions, please contact us at info@nitrovolt.com. To apply, please submit your resumé (incl. transcript or other relevant attachments) and a cover letter outlining your experience and why you are passionate about joining the NitroVolt team to jobs@nitrovolt.com. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
