Kitchen Assistant (Zero-hour contract)

Job description

A Kitchen Assistant supports the kitchen team by washing, peeling and cutting vegetables, preparing ingredients, and making salads. The role also includes refilling the buffet and keeping the kitchen clean. It is ideal for someone with a positive attitude, good attention to detail and an interest in learning kitchen preparation skills. Training will be provided.

Responsibilities

Food preparation · Wash, peel and cut vegetables and other ingredients; prepare salads and sauces, and assist with daily food preparation.

Buffet refill · Refill buffet items and help keep them fresh, presentable and well organised.

Dining area maintenance · Clear and clean tables, dispose of waste properly and keep the dining area tidy.

Dishwashing and kitchen cleaning · Wash dishes, kitchen tools and equipment. Follow food hygiene, safe working and waste-sorting practices.

Requirements

l Experience: Previous kitchen or food-service experience is required. Strong food-preparation skills may also be considered.

l Skills: Confident washing, peeling and chopping vegetables, preparing salads and other ingredients, refilling the buffet, and handling food hygienically.

l Attitude: Responsible, attentive to detail, hygienic and cooperative.

l Other: Available to work weekends and holidays; able to stand for extended periods and handle food supplies as needed.

A Finnish Hygiene Passport is required for handling unpackaged perishable foods within the statutory time limit.
