Role snapshot
Got a commercial mindset, a curious brain and an appetite for making things happen? Ever wondered how you turn a promising conversation into an actual customer? Or what it takes to open doors in international shipping and commodity markets? At CM Navigator, you'll get to find out. By doing it, not just watching. You'll join our commercial team, working with real customers, real opportunities and a digital market intelligence platform used by commodity traders around the world. And while Navigator will be your home base, you'll also be part of the wider Copenhagen Merchants Group – spanning brokerage, shipping, terminals, logistics, plant proteins and energy. Quite a universe to explore. Especially if you have a little Merchanteer in you. What you'll be doing Your work will sit at the intersection of people, markets, technology and commercial opportunities. You'll learn how B2B sales and business development work in practice – from identifying potential customers to starting conversations, understanding their needs and helping turn interest into business. Your work will include: - Identifying and researching potential customers across global shipping and commodity markets - Reaching out to prospects through phone, email and LinkedIn - Qualifying opportunities and arranging meetings and product demonstrations - Joining customer conversations and gradually taking the lead in some of them - Following market developments and spotting opportunities to start new conversations - Taking ownership of a smaller commercial project, such as exploring a new market or customer segment You'll have clear goals, experienced colleagues to learn from and regular feedback along the way. Some days, you'll open doors. Other days, you'll discover why they stay closed. Both are part of learning the commercial craft. And yes, your work can actually help bring new customers into CM Navigator. Who we're looking for Got curiosity, initiative and a natural interest in people and business? You don't need previous sales experience or an existing network in shipping and commodities. We'll help you build that understanding. But we hope you: - Enjoy meeting people, asking questions and starting conversations - Are curious about international trade, markets and commercial opportunities - Combine initiative with structure and good follow-through - Can handle a "no", learn from it and keep your motivation - Communicate clearly and confidently in English - Are comfortable with Excel, numbers and digital tools Experience with sales, student organisations, case competitions or entrepreneurial projects is a plus – but not a requirement. Above all, we're looking for someone with the potential to become a Merchanteer: curious, commercially minded, good with people and motivated to turn opportunities into action. What you'll get out of it Real responsibility. Real customer exposure. And hopefully a considerably sharper commercial instinct. You'll work alongside experienced sales and product colleagues, receive regular sparring and discover what it takes to develop business in international markets. You'll also get a look inside the wider Copenhagen Merchants universe – a Danish, family-owned group where relationships, commercial thinking and entrepreneurial spirit are part of everyday life. We're informal, pragmatic and prefer useful work over corporate theatre. And yes, we have an octopus as our cultural ambassador, T.W. Heart. You'll understand eventually. Most of us did. The practical bits Location: CM Navigator, Pakhus 48, Nordhavn, Copenhagen Period: Autumn 2027, as part of your CBS IST internship semester. Eligibility: This internship is exclusively for students enrolled in CBS's BSc in International Shipping and Trade (IST). Applications from other programmes or institutions are not eligible for this particular opening. Interested? Upload your CV and a short video introduction (max. 60 seconds). Tell us what makes you curious about freight markets, international trade and CM Navigator – and why you think we'd enjoy having you on the team. No studio. No script. Just you.
