HVAC & Fire Engineering Manager, CHEC CAM Project, Kotka

China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd. (CHEC) is a world-renowned international contractor and a leading provider of comprehensive services across the entire industry chain for both public and private sectors. CHEC has been engaged as the main contractor for the CAM Plant project in Kotka, responsible for the implementation and construction of the plant.

We are looking for an HVAC & Fire Engineering professional to join the CHEC team for the Kotka CAM Plant project to support the project during the construction, installation, testing, statutory inspection, commissioning and handover stages.

The job

The HVAC & Fire Engineering Manager shall lead and coordinate HVAC and Fire engineering for the CAM Project, with primary responsibility for design management, technical coordination, multidisciplinary interfaces and technical closure.

The position shall act as CHECs principal engineering interface with relevant HVAC and Fire designers/subcontractors, ensuring that engineering deliverables support construction, testing and commissioning priorities.

The role requires a hands-on and site-oriented engineering manager with a strong HVAC engineering background, who can actively drive designers and subcontractors, review technical solutions, identify missing or incomplete design scope, and resolve engineering issues through to documented closure.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate HVAC and Fire Engineering activities for the project.
• Manage design interfaces and collaborate with designers, consultants, subcontractors,and site teams.
• Ensure engineering deliverables support construction, testing, commissioning, andhandover.
• Resolve technical and installation-related issues and support site operations.
• Ensure compliance with Finnish regulations, authority requirements, and projectstandards.

Required Experience and Competence

• Relevant degree and strong experience in HVAC Engineering.
• Understanding of fire safety and fire protection systems.
• Experience in industrial construction projects, such as process plants, manufacturingfacilities, energy projects, or similar environments.
• Proven experience in design coordination and multidisciplinary project interfaces.
• Experience with testing, commissioning, and handover of building systems.
• Good knowledge of Finnish regulations and industry practices.
• Fluent Finnish and professional English skills.

The preferred candidate should be an active, hands-on HVAC engineering professional who is willing to work closely with the site team on a daily basis, rather than performing only an advisory or high-level project management role.
