Ship Fitter
We are looking for an experienced Ship Fitter to join our shipbuilding team.
The position involves assembly, alignment, fitting, and preparation of steel and aluminium structures during ship block fabrication and hull erection.
Main responsibilities
- Reading and working independently with ship block fabrication, hull erection drawings, and technical work instructions
- Fitting and aligning steel and aluminium structures, plates, and components
- Working with materials ranging approximately from 4 mm to 35 mm in thickness
- Cutting and preparing steel and aluminium components using oxy-acetylene cutting equipment
- Performing tack welding using flux-cored wire
- Using different types of hand and power tools required for fitting and assembly work
- Operating hydraulic jacks and other equipment used for positioning and alignment of structures
- Checking dimensions, position, level, and alignment using measuring devices, levels, plumb tools, and similar equipment
- Preparing structures and components for subsequent welding and installation
- Carrying out work in confined spaces and at elevated work areas when required
- Following project-specific occupational safety rules and safe working procedures
- Maintaining accuracy and quality throughout the fitting and assembly process
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years of practical experience as a ship fitter
- Ability to read and understand shipbuilding and fabrication drawings independently
- Practical experience with steel and aluminium structures
- Good skills in oxy-acetylene cutting
- Ability to perform tack welding with flux-cored welding wire
- Experience with power tools, hydraulic equipment, and measuring instruments
- Good understanding of fitting, alignment, and dimensional control
- Ability to work safely at heights and in confined spaces
- Ability to work independently and follow technical instructions
- Willingness to transfer or relocate to another worksite if required
