What you'll do

We are looking for a Housekeeping Shift Supervisor to join our team at Wilderness Hotel Saariselkä for the winter season 2026–2027.

Wilderness Hotel Saariselkä is one of the most high-end properties in our collection, and that is reflected in our housekeeping standards too. Here, the details matter. Our public areas and accommodation units need to be spotless, but just as important is how everything feels to the guest when they arrive: is everything ready, and is everything exactly where it should be?

As a Shift Supervisor, you will be the day-to-day lead of the housekeeping team. You will take part in the hands-on housekeeping work while making sure tasks are divided sensibly, everyone knows what they are responsible for, and the day runs smoothly. You won't be doing it alone – you will have the support of the Housekeeping Supervisor responsible for the Saariselkä area.

What would your workday look like?

Morning – getting the day started

The day starts by going through the current situation. You will check which accommodation units need to be cleaned, how the work should be divided, and whether there is anything special to take into account that day.

There is no escaping snow or freezing temperatures in this job, as all our accommodation units in Saariselkä are separate cabins. You will spend quite a bit of time moving around outdoors during the day, so a positive and energetic attitude is definitely an advantage.

Daytime – attention to detail

Naturally, most of your day will be spent doing housekeeping work. At Wilderness Hotel Saariselkä, our standards are high, and it is often the smallest details that make the biggest difference.

In addition to keeping the accommodation units and public areas clean, you will make sure everything is exactly as it should be. The job may also include delivering pre-ordered packages or birthday surprises to guests' rooms. And if you enjoy creating towel arrangements or finding other small ways to make a guest's stay a little more special, you will have the opportunity to do that here too.

Sometimes a good dose of common sense and initiative is needed. There won't always be a ready-made instruction for every situation – and that's okay. What matters is that you can see the bigger picture, make sensible decisions, and ask when you're unsure.

Throughout the day – keeping the team on track

As Shift Supervisor, you will help the team stay on top of things. You will divide the day's tasks, follow their progress, and adjust the plan when needed.

You will be right there doing the work alongside the team – this is not a role where you manage housekeeping from the sidelines. At the same time, you will be an approachable source of support for your colleagues and help create a positive atmosphere where working together feels good.

What the job includes

  • Organising and assigning the housekeeping team's daily tasks
  • Cleaning public areas and separate accommodation cabins
  • Ensuring high housekeeping standards and quality
  • Preparing and delivering special requests and surprises to guest rooms
  • Guest service and cooperation with other hotel departments when needed
  • Making sure cleaning supplies and equipment are available
  • Supporting and guiding the team in their daily work
  • Solving practical problems and prioritising tasks as situations change

What we expect from you

  • Previous experience in housekeeping or hotel cleaning
  • Previous experience or willingness to take responsibility for leading a team
  • A careful approach to your work and a good eye for detail
  • Initiative and common sense
  • Good communication skills and a positive attitude
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently
  • Fluent English
  • A valid B-category driving licence

Previous experience in high-end hotel housekeeping is considered an advantage. More importantly, we are looking for someone who takes pride in doing things properly and understands how much good housekeeping contributes to the guest experience.

What you get from this experience

Working in Lapland is more than just a job.

Wilderness Hotel Saariselkä is surrounded by the beautiful landscapes of Saariselkä. After your shift, you can swap your work clothes for outdoor gear and head straight into the fells – cross-country ski tracks, snowshoeing routes and other winter activities are all right nearby.

During the winter, you will experience the polar night, northern lights and the return of the sun at the end of January. And when you work somewhere where the scenery is part of everyday life, you don't have to go looking for it.

We also offer Wilderness Hotels employee benefits and the possibility of staff accommodation. The apartments are clean and fully equipped – in practice, you only need to bring your toothbrush and warm outdoor clothing.

During the winter season, accommodation is shared, with two employees per room.

Salary and terms

  • Starting salary: €2,500/month + supplements, final salary depends on experience and qualifications
  • Employment for the winter season 2026–2027
  • Working hours according to the work schedule
