What you'll do

Founded in Norway in 1877, Helly Hansen continues to develop professional grade apparel that helps people stay and feel alive. Through insights drawn from living and working in the world’s harshest environments, the company has developed a long list of first-to-market innovations, including the first supple waterproof fabrics nearly 150 years ago. Other breakthroughs include the first fleece fabrics in the 1960s, the first technical base layers in the 1970s, made with LIFA® Stay Dry technology, the patented H2Flow™ temperature regulating system, and the revolutionary lighter, warmer LIFALOFT™ insulation. Building on Helly Hansen’s proprietary HELLY TECH® waterproof/breathable system, the technical outdoor brand has most recently introduced the award-winning LIFA INFINITY PRO™ - the company’s most innovative waterproof/breathable technology to date. Helly Hansen is a leader in technical sailing and performance ski apparel, as well as premium workwear. Its uniforms are worn and trusted by more than 55,000 professionals and can be found on Olympians, National Teams, and at more than 200 ski resorts and mountain guiding operations globally. Helly Hansen’s outerwear, base layers, sportswear and footwear are sold in more than 40 countries around the world. To learn more about Helly Hansen’s latest collections, visit www.hellyhansen.com. Help Shape the Future of Chemical Compliance Helly Hansen is looking for a Chemical Compliance Manager to lead and further develop our global chemical compliance program across our product portfolio and supply chain. This role is ideal for someone with deep scientific expertise who wants to apply their knowledge to real-world product, regulatory, and sustainability challenges. Experience from apparel, footwear, or consumer products is valuable, but not essential. We believe a strong foundation in chemistry, chemical engineering, toxicology, materials science, environmental science, or a related discipline is the most important basis for success. What You Will Do As Chemical Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for driving chemical compliance across Helly Hansen's global product portfolio and supply chain. You will:

  • Lead chemical risk assessments throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Manage chemical testing programs and evaluate laboratory results.
  • Investigate non-compliance findings, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions.
  • Monitor emerging chemical regulations and assess their impact on products and materials.
  • Maintain and communicate Restricted Substance List (RSL) and Manufacturing Restricted Substance List (MRSL) requirements.
  • Translate scientific and regulatory requirements into practical compliance decisions.
  • Improve chemical compliance processes, data management, reporting, and risk monitoring.
  • Work with suppliers to strengthen chemical management practices and compliance performance.
  • Provide guidance and training to internal teams and suppliers.
  • Represent Helly Hansen in relevant industry initiatives, working groups, and external networks.

Who We Are Looking For We are looking for a scientifically minded, analytical, and curious person who can translate complex technical information into practical business decisions. You are comfortable working across departments and communicating with colleagues at different levels of the organization. You are a collaborative team player, communicate clearly, listen to different perspectives, and are open to receiving and acting on feedback. Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Toxicology, Materials Science, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of chemical properties, hazard assessment, exposure pathways, and risk assessment principles.
  • Ability to interpret scientific data, laboratory reports, and technical documentation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management capabilities.
  • Fluency in English.

Experience We Value Relevant experience may come from industry, consulting, research, academia, laboratories, product stewardship, regulatory affairs, or compliance. Experience in chemical compliance, regulatory affairs, analytical chemistry, laboratory testing, chemical risk assessment, sustainability, or safer chemistry is beneficial. Familiarity with REACH, SVHCs, PFAS, the POPs Regulation, California Proposition 65, RSL/MRSL requirements, ZDHC, bluesign®, AFIRM, or OEKO-TEX® is an advantage, but not a prerequisite. What Will Make You Successful? You do not need to know every apparel- or footwear-specific requirement from day one. What matters most is your ability to understand complex chemical challenges, critically evaluate scientific evidence, apply sound judgement, and learn quickly. Industry-specific processes, programs, and supply-chain practices can be learned. If you bring deep scientific expertise, intellectual curiosity, and an interest in applying your knowledge in a global product environment, we encourage you to apply. Why Join Helly Hansen? You will have the opportunity to:

  • Apply scientific expertise to real-world products.
  • Influence chemical compliance strategy and decision-making.
  • Work across a global product portfolio and supply chain.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, sustainability initiatives, and industry organizations.
  • Contribute to safer products and responsible product development.
  • Join a collaborative team where your expertise will have a visible impact.

Reporting Line Reports to: Product Compliance Director What we offer

  • The opportunity to join a growing global brand in an exciting phase of development and innovation.
  • A collaborative, international, and fast-paced environment where ambitious and creative people thrive.
  • Exposure to cross-functional teams and global markets across multiple time zones.
  • An active culture driven by a passion for the outdoors and sports.
  • Generous employee discounts on Helly Hansen products.

No relocation support provided. This position is a full-time employment at our Oslo Headquarters. Application (CV and cover letter) is ONLY accepted in the portal (due to personal data protection rules) and not later than 13 November 2026. We welcome early applications.
