About DBI Plastics
DBI Plastics Group A/S is a family-owned Danish company with approximately 200 employees, developing and manufacturing protective solutions for the automotive, machinery and engineering industries. We manufacture in Stenmagle, Denmark, and Swidnica, Poland, and serve customers worldwide, supported by our own warehouses in Shanghai and Detroit. We are undergoing a strategic transformation with a clear ambition: to double the size of the business over the next five years. A significant share of this growth will come from a segment we have not historically approached systematically: the many small and medium-sized customers who currently buy on a transactional basis. This is why we are creating this role.
The role
As Head of Transactional Business, you will have full commercial responsibility for DBI’s global transactional business – revenue, margin and growth across all small and medium-sized customers. This is a business-building role: our channels are at different stages of maturity, and your task will be to structure, professionalise and scale them. You will work through two channels: our webshop and a dealer and distributor network that needs to expand. At the same time, you will transform customer service from a reactive function into a proactive, sales-driving team. As a member of the management team, you will contribute to DBI’s overall strategic direction – not just your own area.
Your responsibilities
- Commercial ownership. Full responsibility for sales, budgets and forecasts for the small and medium-sized customer segment. You set targets, track progress and deliver results.
- E-commerce. End-to-end ownership of the webshop – product range, pricing, conversion, customer journey and digital self-service experience. You run it as a business, not as an IT project.
- Marketplaces. We want to increase our visibility on marketplaces such as Amazon and Alibaba.
- EDI and digital integration. Expand EDI connections with small and medium-sized customers to create a seamless, scalable order flow in collaboration with our operations and IT teams.
- Distribution channels. Select, onboard, negotiate contracts with and manage the performance of distributors – supported by a clear channel strategy that avoids conflict with our direct business.
- Customer service-led outbound sales. Build a culture and operating model in which customer service actively drives sales through upselling, repeat-purchase cycles, reactivating dormant customers and qualifying leads.
- People leadership. Lead the team supporting our transactional channels, providing visible, clear leadership and well-defined decision-making responsibilities.
- Management team. Play an active role in DBI’s management team and share responsibility for delivering our ambition to double the size of the business.
Your profile
Essential experience
- Proven experience in driving e-commerce commercially – ideally in B2B – with responsibility for revenue and conversion, not just the platform.
- Experience in building and developing distribution channels: identifying, negotiating with and managing distributors or dealers.
- Experience in customer service-led outbound sales – you have personally helped transform a service team from reactive to proactive.
- Leadership experience with direct people management responsibility, ideally at management team level.
Skills and personal qualities
- This is a highly hands-on role with a small team, so you must enjoy working both strategically and at a very practical, operational level.
- You are data-driven and take a structured approach to KPIs, pipeline management and channel economics.
- You make decisions – even when information is incomplete – and communicate them in a way others can understand and act on.
- You are equally comfortable in an industrial manufacturing environment and working with a digital commercial agenda.
- You work across borders and cultures and understand how a global footprint shapes sales.
- You are fluent in spoken and written English.
What we offer
- A newly created role with a genuine mandate to shape an entire business area.
- A seat on the management team, with direct access to the Managing Director and a short path to decisions.
- A family-owned company with long-standing customer relationships, high quality standards and an ambitious growth plan.
- A competitive employment package reflecting the responsibilities of the role.
