What you'll do

Fred. Olsen Windcarrier is a market-leading provider of transportation and installation services for offshore wind turbines. With more than 25 years of renewable energy experience, we bring together maritime expertise, engineering, project execution and offshore operations. Having installed more than 1,100 wind turbines at some of the world’s largest offshore wind farms, we continue to develop our capabilities around our values: Curious, Engaged and Connected. We are looking for a Head of Engineering to lead an experienced Engineering team that currently consists of 17 people. This is an opportunity for an engineering leader who wants both people responsibility and genuine technical influence. You will set the direction for Engineering, develop the team and its capabilities, and provide the technical leadership needed across projects, tenders and operations. You will be close enough to the engineering to guide and challenge solutions while taking a broader view of performance, strategy and risk. The role is part of Projects & Engineering and reports to the Chief Project Officer. Responsibilities

  • Lead, support and develop the Engineering team
  • Translate business needs into engineering priorities and capability plans
  • Ensure the right competence and capacity across projects, tenders and operations
  • Provide technical leadership and act as an escalation point for engineering delivery, performance and risk
  • Strengthen technical governance, quality and compliance
  • Develop roles, responsibilities, competence and succession within the department
  • Improve engineering quality, efficiency and ways of working
  • Collaborate across Projects, Procurement, Commercial, Operations, Technical, Nautical and HSEQ
  • Keep Engineering connected to relevant industry developments

Qualifications We believe you will bring:

  • A relevant technical degree at bachelor’s level or above
  • Solid engineering and technical delivery experience, preferably from offshore works or marine operations
  • Leadership experience with personnel responsibility
  • Strong technical judgement and the confidence to guide and challenge engineering solutions
  • Understanding of technical quality, governance and risk
  • Experience balancing resources and competing priorities
  • A proven ability to develop people and strong professional teams
  • Good business understanding and cross-functional collaboration skills

Why join us This is a broad leadership role where engineering, people and business come together. You will have the opportunity to shape how the Engineering function develops while contributing to commercial processes, project delivery and operational needs. It is a role for someone who wants to lead experienced professionals without stepping away from engineering.
