Functional Safety Specialist

WE ARE LOOKING FOR FUNCTIONAL SAFETY SPECIALIST – SAFETY MANAGEMENT AND CUSTOMER DEPLOYMENTS Are you passionate about making complex automated systems safe to deploy and operate? Would you like to work with automated vehicles, safety-critical software, and customer-specific operational environments? We are looking for a Functional Safety Specialist to support the development and deployment of our automated vehicle marshalling solution (UMS). The role combines hands-on safety engineering with safety-management responsibilities across customer deployment projects. The role is intended for a mid-level professional with the opportunity to grow toward broader safety ownership. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the company’s safety management system.
• Develop and improve safety processes, methods, templates, training, and deployment practices.
• Coordinate safety activities across product development, testing, deployment, and customer teams.
• Oversee that testing, validation, and other planned safety activities are completed according to the agreed safety plans.
• Lead and document deployment-specific hazard analyses and risk assessments, including HARA and FMEA.
• Define and represent the company’s position on safety goals, safety requirements, and risk-reduction measures.
• Own or maintain the safety case and ensure that sufficient safety evidence is available for deployment.
• Act as the internal contact person for external functional safety audits and assessments, and conduct internal safety assessments.
• Support safety-related incident analysis, change-impact assessments, and resolution of open safety actions.
• Communicate safety risks, assumptions, deviations, and acceptance recommendations to management and customers.
• Support customer deployments through frequent online interaction and occasional travel.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in safety-related system development, preferably in industrial automation, automotive, robotics, or another safety-critical domain.
• Practical knowledge of IEC 61508. Experience with ISO 13849 is also relevant.
• Knowledge of ISO 21448/SOTIF or the ability to develop this knowledge in practice.
• Experience performing or leading HARA, FMEA, or comparable safety analyses.
• Experience with safety requirements, safety cases, risk-reduction measures, and safety-related software or system development.
• Ability to oversee verification and validation activities from a safety-management perspective.
• Experience supporting audits, assessments, customer approvals, or safety acceptance decisions.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to represent safety topics and challenge decisions when necessary.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE

• Automotive functional safety experience and knowledge of ISO 26262.
• Experience with automated driving, vehicle systems, logistics, or industrial vehicles.
• Experience developing or maintaining a safety management system.
• Experience with safety-related software development.
• German or French language skills.
