About Solace We just closed our founding round: €2.1M pre-seed led by Spintop Ventures, with Plug and Play, Wave Ventures and a group of senior Nordic insurance leaders. Most of it lands on one person at the worst possible time. Solace carries part of that load: a personal checklist, tools for closing accounts, an AI assistant for the questions nobody prepared for, and a digital vault for the things that matter. We reach families through life insurers (white-label) and directly. Our core is the Nordics, where we’re live with 25,000+ policyholders covered, and we’re setting up our first partnerships in new European markets. Founded by Mindler alumni. We count it as a success when a hard week gets a little lighter. If you’ve been looking for a place where good engineering turns directly into helping people, this is it. It’s the reason most of us are here. The role 🚀 You’d be our second founding engineer. You’ll work in a tight loop with our CTO, our product designer and our first founding engineer. Idea on Monday, prototype on Tuesday, in front of users by Friday. The product is a web app that most people use on their phone, logged in with BankID, MitID or another national eID, on one of the hardest days of their life. Behind it sit white-label partner setups for insurers, integrations with financial data providers, and an AI assistant that has to be useful, safe and calm. Every new market brings new languages, eIDs and regulations, so a lot of the work is building things that travel well. One thing to be upfront about: we build AI-first. Most of our code is written with agents in the loop (Claude Code, Cursor). We care less about how fast you type and more about how well you spec, review, test and own what ships. If you already work this way, or badly want to, this is the place. This is a founding role with room to grow. As the team scales, it can become a Lead or Staff path, depending on where you want to take it. What you’ll own Full-stack product work, end to end: data model, API, UI, shipped, measured Product decisions alongside the CTO and designer. You shape what we build, not just how. Our AI-first engineering workflow: agent setups, prompts, evals, guardrails and the CI around them The AI features in the product: our assistant, document handling and guided flows, built with proper evals and clear limits Integrations with insurers, eID providers and financial data partners Security and privacy. We handle personal and financial information about people who have just lost someone. Their trust is the product, so security is part of quality for us, not a compliance checkbox. Engineering culture: reviews, docs, and the patterns the next hires inherit Our stack TypeScript, Node.js, React, TailwindCSS, PostgreSQL, AWS, GitHub Actions, Auth0 + Idura for eID, and LLMs from several providers, used both in the product and in how we build it. What we’re looking for 3+ years building and shipping production web apps, ideally full-stack in TypeScript Startup experience where you owned features end to end with no one telling you how A real AI-first workflow. You use coding agents daily and have opinions about where they break. Product sense. You care about the user on the other side of the screen, and you’re comfortable with sensitive subject matter. Good judgement on security, data and reliability, without slowing everything down Stockholm-based. We usually work 3-4 days a week in the office, with flexibility to be remote for longer periods. Swedish or another Nordic language is a plus. The product ships in SV/NO/FI/DA/NL/EN. Founding experience is a plus, but not required. We’re looking for talent and mindset above all.
