What you'll do

Who We Are… We are a global marine geoscience and technology business. We are pioneers using ground-breaking technology to study what lies beneath the ocean floor. We help energy companies plan ahead, accelerating responsible use of the planet’s resources. We provide marine seismic data, imaging products and data processing software. Our teams combine advanced technology, scientific expertise and operational excellence to help our clients reduce exploration risk and make better decisions. Could you be the trusted financial voice behind our Multi-Client investments? We’re looking for a Finance Business Partner to join our Multi-Client team, serving as the trusted finance advisor to commercial and business leaders on the evaluation, development and long-term value realization of our Multi-Client seismic data investments. As the primary interface between the business and the wider Finance function, you will provide end-to-end financial and commercial support across investment opportunities, projects and portfolio performance – enabling informed decision-making, strengthening commercial outcomes and driving sustainable value creation. This is a role where rigorous financial analysis meets commercial insight. Working closely with Business Development and the wider Finance, Accounting, Tax and Treasury organization, you will bring proactive business partnering and continuous performance improvement to every investment decision. Technically speaking… You will take overall ownership of financial evaluations and business/project models for new opportunities, understanding, challenging and validating commercial, operational and financial assumptions rather than simply consolidating input from the business. You will establish robust financial baselines used consistently for operational management, investment decisions, tax considerations, partner arrangements and performance measurement, and own post-investment and deviation analysis so that lessons from actual performance feed into future decisions. You will drive continuous improvement through systematic monitoring of actual performance against forecast and investment assumptions, identifying deviations early and working with the business on corrective actions. You will coordinate sales forecasts with Business Developers and take overall responsibility for project cash-flow forecasting, timely invoicing and working-capital performance – proactively resolving issues that could delay collections or cash generation. For partnered and consortium projects, you will establish and own financial reporting processes, coordinating partner reporting, taxation and other financial requirements, while leveraging specialist expertise from Finance, Accounting, Tax and Treasury where required. You will also prepare the financial and operational reports, analyses and presentations that support management, executive, steering committee and board reporting. In personal terms… You move comfortably between the strategic and the detailed – understanding the broader commercial context while maintaining attention to the underlying financial and operational matters. You’re adept at challenging assumptions constructively, partnering with stakeholders to improve the quality of commercial and operational decisions. You build credibility and influence through insight, collaboration and a track record of tangible contribution to business performance. Pragmatic, solution-oriented and self-driven, you take ownership of both execution and delivery, with the communication and relationship-building skills to work effectively across commercial, operational and finance functions. What You’ll Need

  • Professionally qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent).
  • 5-8 years’ experience in FP&A, Finance Business Partnering, Project Controlling, Commercial Finance or Operational Finance.
  • Experience in a project-based industry.
  • Solid financial modelling, planning and forecasting skills, combined with strong commercial acumen and business understanding.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, influencing and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across commercial, operational and finance functions to drive business outcomes.

It would also help, but is not essential, if you bring:

  • Experience in Offshore, Engineering, Construction or related project-based sectors.
  • Experience coordinating partnered or consortium project finances, including partner reporting and tax matters.

What does Shearwater offer you?

  • Competitive salary and benefits.
  • The opportunity to apply and adapt your professional and academic experience for business needs.
  • A promise to fill any knowledge gaps with an individual learning plan, in an environment that encourages progression.
  • The chance to work in one of the world’s most exciting industries in teams that are diverse and global.
  • A culture of transparency and freedom

Curious? Perfect. We all have that in common. Shearwater careers: Time to make your own waves.
