What you'll do

Spirii is looking for an Engineering Manager! If you are passionate about cutting-edge software development technologies, leading agile teams, the EV industry, and creating outstanding products, join Spirii’s fantastic growth journey to lead the way for a sustainable future. The Job Spirii develops and provides world-class charging products and digital solutions to customers with electric cars. Our Digital Development department is proud to drive a listen, learn, and lead culture that allows us to constantly improve our ways of working. As Engineering Manager, you lead 1-2 of our engineering teams of 6–12 engineers and are accountable for making it a high-performing team. You own the people, the health of the team and the soundness of its engineering. You do this through others: Tech Leads and Senior Engineers guide the technical work day-to-day, and you make sure good decisions get made, quality stays high, and the team keeps getting better. Spirii is adopting agentic development as the way we build software. AI agents are becoming part of how our engineers design, code, test, review and operate systems. You'll make it real in your team, working with colleagues across engineering to shape how we do it. You work very closely with a Product Manager and a Designer. Product owns what we build and why; you own how well the team delivers it. You report to the Head of Engineering. What You Will Do Lead and grow your people

  • Own the full people cycle for your team: hiring, onboarding, one-on-ones, feedback, career development, performance reviews and handling underperformance early and fairly.
  • Build a team where people trust each other, take ownership and do their best work at a sustainable pace.
  • Help your engineers grow, including senior engineers stepping into technical leadership.

Own team performance

  • Be accountable for the team's delivery, predictability and quality, and for how it improves over time.
  • Define with Product what good looks like, and track it with evidence such as delivery flow, reliability, and team health, not gut feeling.
  • Turn priorities into clear commitments, make trade-offs visible, and protect the team so committed work gets finished.

Lead the shift to agentic development in your team

  • Make agentic development part of how your team works every day, moving beyond individual experiments to shared practice.
  • Adapt how work flows through your team as agents take on more of the building. That includes how work is specified, how code is reviewed and how quality is assured.
  • Apply shared practices for quality, security and data handling as they develop, and stay accountable for what your team ships.
  • Work with colleagues across engineering on how we adopt agentic development. Bring your team's needs and feedback, and help test and roll out new tools and practices.
  • Track what agentic development changes for your team's delivery and quality, and share what you learn with other teams.

Ensure sound engineering

  • Be accountable for the quality of your team's engineering decisions, including architecture, security, operational readiness, observability and technical debt, while your Tech Lead and engineers lead the design work.
  • Make sure what the team ships is tested, observable and ready to run in production, and that incidents lead to real learning.
  • Work with other Engineering Managers and Tech Leads to keep our platform and practices coherent across teams.

Collaborate across Spirii

  • Partner with Product, Design, other departments and external consultants to align priorities and resolve dependencies.
  • Communicate clearly and early about progress, risks and trade-offs.

Who You Are

  • You care about people and want to build teams that grow, thrive and deliver.
  • You hold a high bar for quality and for yourself, and you take ownership of results.
  • You're genuinely excited about AI as the new way to build software. You want to be ahead of the curve, and you're curious about where it goes next.
  • You're technical enough to challenge a design, read an incident and spot risk, even if you're not writing production code day to day.
  • You communicate clearly with engineers, product people and leadership alike.

Qualifications The ideal candidate has relevant experience with development of digital cloud-based solutions in an agile start-up environment and can take the responsibility for leading a team of developers. We further look for a candidate with the following experience and personal traits:

  • Relevant technical graduate degree at minimum bachelor level (engineer).
  • 3+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager with direct reports, including hiring, coaching and performance management.
  • A background as a software engineer (backend or full-stack) building cloud-based solutions.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, such as microservices and APIs, and what it takes to run them reliably in production.
  • Experience improving engineering practices like automated testing, CI/CD, observability or incident management.
  • Familiarity with DORA metrics or similar ways of measuring delivery.
  • Experience making senior engineers and tech leads more effective, rather than doing their work for them.

It's an advantage if you have

  • Experience leading a team's adoption of AI-assisted or agentic development, including changing practices, not just introducing tools.
  • Experience with AWS and containerised workloads.
  • Experience from eMobility products.
  • Experience leading a team through organisational change.
