About the role As an embryologist at our Stavanger clinic, you will be a key part of our laboratory team – contributing to fertility treatment, male fertility assessment, and the continued development of our sperm and egg bank. This is a permanent, full-time position – a rare opportunity at one of Norway's largest fertility clinics. To be considered for the role, you should: - Have at least two years of hands-on experience in an IVF laboratory. - Demonstrate strong attention to detail and familiarity with the latest advancements in clinical embryology. - Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient-centered approach. - Be a true team player, who values cooperation, mutual support, and shared professional goals, across different rolesand clinics. - Show a willingness to learn Norwegian – relevant language skills are considered positive (e.g. understanding Scandinavian languages). You will work closely with a highly competent team of embryologists, both locally and across our clinics in Oslo, Trondheim, Bergen, and Stavanger. Our clinic is equipped with advanced systems including IDEAS EMR, RI Witness, Britannia Monitoring Systems, and Time-lapse incubators – ensuring high-quality care for our patients. We offer all types of fertility treatments permitted by Norwegian law, and operate our own sperm and egg bank, recruiting donors internally. We are also proud participants in a variety of clinical studies. The clinic is centrally located in Stavanger with excellent access to public transportation and local amenities. Key areas of responsibility Clinical Embryology and Andrology - Perform semen analysis, sperm DNA fragmentation test, semen freezing and preparation for assisted reproductive treatments. - Identify and select oocytes during egg retrieval procedures. - Perform IVF insemination and Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI). - Monitor embryo development and perform morphological assessments using time-lapse. - Evaluate and select embryos for transfer/ freezing. - Perform cryopreservation and thawing of oocytes, embryos, and sperm. Laboratory Operations and quality Management - Support the day-to-day operation of the laboratory, including inventory management, procurement, equipment maintenance, and laboratory upkeep. - Maintain accurate and timely records in the clinic's electronic medical record (EMR) system, IDEAS. - Contribute to quality assurance, quality control, and adherence to laboratory protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs). - Monitor, compile, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) to the Laboratory Manager and corporate management. Patient Communication and Support - Provide patients with timely updates on embryo development during treatment. - Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients regarding relevant aspects of their treatment, in collaboration with the clinical team. - Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and a patient-centred approach in all communications. Qualifications and experience - Bachelor's degree in Biosciences or a related field, and/or a Master's degree in Clinical Embryology or Assisted Reproductive Technology. - At least two years of practical experience in clinical embryology - Experience in IVF laboratory operations, quality management, and quality control is an advantage, but not an absolute requirement.
