Embedded Software Engineer | Industrial IoT & Embedded Systems Location: Trondheim, Norway (Hybrid, office-first culture with flexibility) Join an established Norwegian technology company that designs and manufactures intelligent electromechanical solutions used across global industrial and maritime environments. With thousands of systems deployed worldwide, the business is investing heavily in next-generation products and integrated automation solutions. As part of a growing R&D team, you'll help develop the next generation of intelligent control systems and connected products. This is a hands-on role where you'll work across firmware development, sensor technology, system integration tools and product innovation. You'll be joining during an exciting transformation as the company expands from standalone hardware products to delivering complete integrated automation solutions for customers worldwide. Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain embedded firmware for sensor and control systems
• Design and implement software in C/C++
• Work with RTOS-based embedded platforms
• Support PLC and automation system integration
• Collaborate closely with electronics, manufacturing, procurement and operations teams
• Contribute to hardware analysis and debugging activities
• Mentor junior engineers and support technical decision-making
• Participate in the full product lifecycle from concept through to deployment

Requirements

• 4+ years of embedded or firmware development experience
• Strong commercial experience with C/C++
• Experience working with RTOS environments
• Track record developing firmware for physical products or industrial devices
• Ability to clearly articulate your individual contributions to projects
• Passion for building and improving products
• Comfortable working across software, hardware and engineering teams
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Desirable experience

• Industrial automation, maritime, robotics, energy or embedded hardware environments
• PLC integration or industrial communication protocols
• Technical leadership or mentoring experience
• Customer-facing technical discussions
• Willingness to travel occasionally for technical workshops, trade events or collaboration with international teams
