What you'll do

Senior Embedded Software Developer | Motor Control & Variable Speed Drives We're currently supporting a leading engineering organisation developing advanced drive and motor control technology used within industrial ventilation systems. As part of a growing project pipeline, we're looking for a Senior Embedded Software Developer with strong experience in motor control, frequency converters and variable speed drives to join a highly skilled engineering team. This is not a generic embedded software role. The key focus is developing real-time Embedded C software that controls electric motors and power electronics systems. We're particularly interested in engineers who have worked with motor drives, inverters, VSDs (Variable Speed Drives), VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), frequency converters or similar industrial power conversion products. This is an initial 5-month contract position with a strong possibility of an extension to 12 months. What you'll be doing

  • Developing and enhancing Embedded C software for an existing motor drive platform.
  • Designing real-time control functionality for motor control and power electronics applications.
  • Working closely with hardware engineers and test engineers to deliver new features and improvements.
  • Investigating and resolving issues through hands-on laboratory testing and validation.
  • Supporting integration between software, control systems and hardware.
  • Analysing system performance and optimising drive behaviour.
  • Contributing to customer-specific product variants and feature enhancements.

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years' experience in embedded software development
  • Strong Embedded C programming skills
  • Recent experience within power electronics
  • Excellent understanding of motor control and motor regulation
  • Experience with frequency converters, variable speed drives, inverters or motor drives
  • Experience working with AC motors, DC motors and/or permanent magnet motors
  • Knowledge of real-time embedded systems
  • Experience working in industrial, automation, drives, motion control or power electronics environments
  • PMSM, BLDC or induction motor control
  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)
