What you'll do

The Role, At a Glance Biamp Systems is seeking an Electrical Engineer for a full-time role. Responsibilities include high-speed digital design, PCB layout, design testing and verification, and generating appropriate documentation for your deliverables. You will be working in an energetic, collaborative environment. How You'll Contribute

  • Design, document, and test designs for new products in collaboration with other design engineers and manufacturing. Major items may include:
  • Create design specifications based on project requirements.
  • Develop schematics for microcontroller-based systems that involve a variety of interfaces (e.g., DRAM, Ethernet, USB, PCIe, I2C, SPI, I2S/TDM).
  • Design PCB layouts for medium- to high-density circuit boards using techniques appropriate for high-speed signals with impedance controls.
  • Create test plans for verifying the designs.

You'll Also Support With

  • Integrating multiple printed circuit board assemblies into a product, including the mechanical assembly/disassembly of the enclosure/chassis.
  • Performing functional testing under a variety of conditions (e.g., thermal).
  • Accompanying equipment to and from labs for EMI testing.
  • Performing soldering/rework on PCBAs as needed.
  • Participate in project meetings.
  • Preparing and submitting status reports.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager or project lead.

A Successful Candidate Should Have

  • An eagerness to learn.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a design engineering role, ideally with a strong background in microcontroller-based systems involving audio.
  • Knowledge about audio electronics and/or the industry.
  • Basic knowledge of EMI/EMC requirements and design/mitigation techniques.
  • Knowledge of common communication protocols (e.g., serial, I2C, SPI).
  • Solid understanding of the use of common test tools (e.g., oscilloscope, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer).
  • Understanding of audio quality test methods is a bonus.
  • Experience with power supply and amplifier design is a bonus.
  • Experience with Altium Designer is a bonus.
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written skills in English.
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and can work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and diffuse challenging situations using acceptable and appropriate methods.
  • Able to multi-task and be flexible in a dynamic work environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

The position requires the ability to travel often and at short notice in Germany as well as occasional trips throughout Europe and Biamp’s headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. This position includes the payment of all travel and office costs, including office equipment. The Field Sales Engineer reports to the Field Sales Engineering Manager, Europe & Africa. Work Environment

  • On-site attendance in the Askim office is required.
  • Ability to lift 5 kg frequently and up to 20 kg periodically.
  • Stand or sit for long periods.
  • Perform tasks (that may be repetitive) that require reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, walking, stooping and/or bending.
  • Use tools that require fine hand skills.
