What you'll do

Would you like to design the electrical systems that support the control, monitoring and protection of Denmark’s high-voltage transmission network? Can you translate functional requirements into clear, accurate electrical schematics and wiring diagrams? Join COWI as an Electrical Designer and support our assignments for key clients. Create the solutions that will enable a better tomorrow To strengthen our delivery of electrical design services for high-voltage substations, we are looking for an Electrical Designer specialising in substation secondary systems. You will contribute to new substations, extensions to existing substations, and refurbishment and replacement projects. Your focus will be on preparing detailed electrical designs and documentation for substation control and monitoring systems, including interfaces with protection equipment and auxiliary power supplies. Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Prepare electrical schematics and wiring diagrams for substation control and monitoring systems.
  • Translate functional requirements into detailed electrical drawings and technical documentation in accordance with applicable standards and client requirements.
  • Review electrical drawings for technical accuracy, consistency and compliance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate electrical interfaces between primary equipment, control and protection systems, and auxiliary power supplies.
  • Provide electrical design support throughout the delivery of high-voltage substation projects.

Your skills. Our team. Together we design the future. You enjoy working with colleagues, partners and clients. You take a structured approach to your work, take responsibility for your deliverables and are comfortable working independently. In addition, you will have:

  • A degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent technical qualification.
  • Practical experience in electrical design and the preparation of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience using PCSCHEMATIC and SEE Electrical.
  • A sound understanding of high-voltage substations, AC and DC auxiliary power supplies, control and monitoring circuits, and protection equipment.
  • An understanding of the interfaces between primary equipment and secondary systems.
  • A high level of proficiency in both Danish and English, spoken and written.
  • The ability to obtain the security clearance required for the assignment.

Your primary workplace will be one of COWI’s offices in Denmark, depending on your location and the requirements of the assignment. Depending on the project, you may also work remotely or at client locations. Travel to substations and other project sites is part of the role.
