Role snapshot
From dumpster to second life: the tool and marketplace for reusing building parts. Every year, perfectly good doors, windows, radiators, flooring and other building parts end up in dumpsters during renovations and demolitions. At Historical Parts, we make sure they get a second life. Municipalities and property owners pay us to inventory building components, whether in buildings facing renovation, in existing storage or at recycling centres where reusable parts are collected. Our scanning tool dates and classifies each part by age, condition and reusability. This creates a large and growing flow of materials, and parts that aren’t reused on site are sold through our open marketplace. What makes our marketplace unique is the data behind every listing. Because each part is documented in detail, from era and dimensions to material and condition, buyers can filter with a precision you won’t find elsewhere and find exactly the part they need. About the role Our marketplace has real traction and is growing month by month. Our small team has built a lot together, but we’re outgrowing the current setup, and the marketplace still runs on too much manual work. We’re looking for someone to own it and turn it into a self-running business line. You’ll work closely with the founder and have real influence from day one. The role starts part-time, with clear revenue milestones that increase it, up to full-time, as the marketplace grows. For the right person, it can develop into a partnership. What success looks like Within six months, orders flow from checkout to delivery with minimal manual handling, customers find the answers they need without contacting us, and marketplace revenue is growing month on month. How we’ll get to know each other We start with a short, clearly scoped project (2–4 weeks), followed by a trial period working together. That way we both find out whether it’s a fit before committing to anything long term. Why join us This is a rare chance to build a marketplace from an early stage, with real customers, a steady flow of unique products and a mission that matters. If you want to see the results of your work directly, and help change how the construction industry treats its materials, we’d love to hear from you.
