Role Description The Doctoral Candidate in Mechanical Engineering will conduct independent and collaborative research within mechanical engineering, with a focus aligned to BTH’s profile in applied IT and sustainable innovation. Daily tasks include designing and performing experiments or simulations, analyzing data, reviewing scientific literature, and contributing to the development of research methods and models. The candidate will write scientific articles, conference papers, and a doctoral thesis, and present results in seminars, conferences, and collaborative meetings. Additional responsibilities may involve contributing to teaching, supervising project or laboratory work, and engaging with industry or external partners when relevant to the research. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Karlskrona. Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in mechanical engineering or a closely related field, with knowledge of core engineering principles and analytical methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct structured research, including literature review, problem formulation, experimental or simulation work, and data analysis.
  • Competence in technical writing and scientific communication, including preparing research papers, reports, and presentations in English.
  • Experience with relevant engineering tools or software (e.g., CAD/CAE, numerical simulation, programming or scripting for data analysis) is highly beneficial.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams, manage time and project tasks effectively, and collaborate in an international academic environment.
  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, meeting eligibility requirements for doctoral studies.
  • Interest in sustainability, innovation, and applying engineering solutions to real-world challenges; prior work with industry or applied projects is an advantage.
