Director of Engineering

The Opportunity: We are partnering with a leading Nordic financial institution to appoint an IT Lead for a strategically important technology area at the heart of its core banking platform. Working alongside the senior business lead, you will help set technical direction, drive execution and support a significant modernisation agenda without compromising the stability and resilience of essential financial services. Key Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for Digital Core in partnership with senior technology and business leaders.
• Co-lead the area to align business priorities, technology strategy and delivery.
• Lead and support senior technical profiles, improving engineering quality and developing leadership capability.
• Drive modernisation through simplification, scalable architecture and strong engineering practices.
• Maintain focus on stability, resilience and compliance while progressing change.
• Provide clear visibility of progress, risks, dependencies and overall technical health.
• Build effective collaboration across architecture, engineering, product and business stakeholders.

• Experience leading within a complex technology environment, ideally in banking or another regulated setting.
• Experience leading senior technical profiles, or readiness to step into broader technology leadership.
• A strong understanding of modern engineering and architecture, including cloud, APIs, microservices, automation and resilient systems.
• The ability to translate strategic ambition into clear priorities, roadmaps and delivery outcomes.
• Confidence operating across technology, product and business stakeholders in a large international organisation.
• A collaborative leadership style that builds trust, creates clarity and supports effective decision-making.
