Job Description: Digital Lifecycle Engineering SME
Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Digital Lifecycle Engineering SME to provide consulting and technical leadership across Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), product development, and engineering-to-manufacturing processes. The role will help shape digital lifecycle strategies, connect engineering and manufacturing data, and support transformation across complex Engineer-to-Order (ETO) and Configure-to-Order (CTO) environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide subject-matter expertise and advisory leadership across PLM and Digital Lifecycle Engineering initiatives.
- Assess current product-development processes, PLM landscapes, engineering applications, and data flows; define improvement and transformation roadmaps.
- Advise on PTC technologies, with strong understanding of Windchill and the broader PTC ecosystem.
- Define approaches for product architecture, product structures, BOM and configuration management, engineering change management, and digital thread capabilities.
- Connect engineering data and processes with downstream manufacturing, enterprise, and service environments to improve lifecycle traceability and data continuity.
- Support ETO and CTO product families, including configuration, variant management, modular product structures, design reuse, and downstream handoffs.
- Facilitate customer workshops and translate business and engineering challenges into pragmatic technology, process, and operating-model recommendations.
- Work with engineering, manufacturing, IT, architecture, and business stakeholders to define target-state solutions and measurable outcomes.
- Identify opportunities for automation, AI-enabled engineering, application rationalization, and continuous improvement across the product lifecycle.
-
- Required Experience & Skills
- 10–15 years of hands-on experience in PLM, digital engineering, product development, or related engineering-IT transformation roles.
- Deep expertise in PLM technologies and lifecycle processes.
- Strong PTC product expertise, particularly Windchill; experience with related PTC engineering and lifecycle solutions is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated consulting experience, including discovery, assessment, roadmap development, workshop facilitation, and executive/customer engagement.
- Strong knowledge of product-development processes spanning requirements, design, engineering release/change, configuration, manufacturing, and service.
- Good understanding of engineering and manufacturing data, including product structures, EBOM/MBOM concepts, configuration data, change records, and lifecycle traceability.
- Practical exposure to ETO and CTO product families and associated configuration and variant-management challenges.
- Understanding of digital thread and integration across PLM, CAD/CAE, ERP, MES, ALM, and other engineering systems.
- Strong communication, analytical, stakeholder-management, and problem-solving skills.
-
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading or advising large-scale PLM modernization, digital thread, or engineering transformation programs.
- Exposure to cloud PLM, application portfolio optimization, systems engineering/ALM, Digital Twin, or AI-enabled engineering use cases.
- Experience in industrial manufacturing, energy, automotive, aerospace, heavy engineering, or other complex product industries.
- Ability to operate effectively across business, engineering, manufacturing, and technology teams in a global environment.
