Role snapshot
Take the next step - from IT Operations to global device management! Are you the person others turn to when Intune, Azure or endpoint management gets complicated? This could be your opportunity to take your technical expertise to the next level and help drive the development of Wallenius Wilhelmsen's global device landscape. Wallenius Wilhelmsen is undergoing a significant digital transformation. Across the business, legacy infrastructure is being replaced with modern platforms, new technologies and AI-enabled capabilities that will shape how the company operates in the years ahead. As a global organization with ambitious growth plans, we are investing heavily in digital capabilities and building a future-ready operating model. Reliable workplace technology plays a critical role in that journey. Employees across offices, terminals and vessels depend on secure, standardized and well-managed devices to perform their work effectively. Today, responsibility for devices spans multiple stakeholders, processes and suppliers. We want to create a more holistic and technically robust approach to how this environment is managed globally. This is where you come in. We are looking for someone with a strong technical foundation in IT operations, system administration or Modern Workplace who is ready to take on a broader role. You may already be the go-to person for Microsoft Intune, Azure, endpoint management or workplace technology in your current organization – and now want the mandate to set standards, make decisions and take ownership of a global environment. If that sounds like an interesting next step, we would like to hear from you! About the role As Device Manager, you will be responsible for the global lifecycle management of workplace devices across Wallenius Wilhelmsen. This includes everything from laptops and mobile devices to meeting room equipment, scanners, printers and other endpoint technologies used across the organization. You will be the person responsible for creating a more holistic approach to device management globally. The role sits at the intersection of technology and ownership. You will not spend every day configuring devices or solving support tickets, but you need to understand the technology well enough to know what good looks like, troubleshoot complex issues, challenge technical recommendations and make sound decisions about how the environment should evolve. Microsoft Intune will be a key part of your landscape, alongside Azure and the broader Microsoft ecosystem. While much of the operational delivery is handled by external partners, you will own the standards, governance and technical direction for how devices are managed across the company. You will work closely with Infrastructure, Security, Procurement and strategic partners to ensure a secure, efficient and standardized device landscape. Your responsibilities will include:
Who are we looking for? We are looking for a technically strong and curious person who enjoys getting to the bottom of how things work. Your background may be in IT operations, system administration, endpoint management, infrastructure or Modern Workplace. Perhaps you are currently working as a senior technician, system administrator or technical specialist and have reached the point where you want to take responsibility for more than the technology in front of you. You still enjoy being close to the technology, but you are ready to move from primarily operating and administering an environment to owning and developing one. We believe the right candidate brings:
You do not need to have been a Device Manager before. In fact, we are particularly interested in candidates who have built strong technical expertise and are now ready to take the next step. What matters is that you understand the technology, are comfortable taking responsibility and want to develop from technical specialist into someone with broader ownership and influence. You should also be comfortable with the fact that standardization sometimes means saying no. Different locations and users will have different preferences, and part of your job will be to determine when a local need requires a different solution – and when the long-term value of a common standard matters more. Our promise This is an opportunity to turn strong technical expertise into genuine global ownership. Rather than being responsible for one part of an IT environment, you will get the mandate to understand the full device landscape, improve it and influence how workplace technology is managed across Wallenius Wilhelmsen. For someone coming from IT operations or system administration, this can be a natural next step: you remain close enough to technology to use your expertise, while gaining greater responsibility for standards, suppliers, lifecycle decisions and technical direction. You will join a global organization with ambitious technology goals and a significant digital transformation underway. That gives you both a complex environment to work with today and the opportunity to help define what it should look like tomorrow. In return, we offer:
