What you'll do

Do you want to lead a team that builds the backbone of Danish banking, and help reinvent how it is built? In Core Banking, we develop and run the business-critical systems that our member banks rely on every single day. We are now in the middle of a major transformation. We are modernising decades of proven Mainframe technology, opening it up through APIs and event-driven integrations, and embedding AI in the way we develop software. We are looking for a technically strong Development Manager who wants to be at the centre of this journey. You will lead a skilled team across Denmark and Poland, work closely with the business and our customers, and own the strategic technology roadmap for your area, in BEC and in the future Nykredit Financial Technologies. The position is based at our office in Roskilde, and you will report to Head of Core Banking What you will be part of:

  • AI in practice: You won't just be talking about AI. Your team will use AI-assisted development in its daily work across Mainframe/COBOL, Java, APIs and Kafka.
  • Your own roadmap: You will build and own the strategic technology roadmap for your area, setting the direction for how your systems evolve.
  • Shaping the future: You will help design future solutions together with the business and our customers.
  • Real impact: Your work directly affects how banks serve their customers across Denmark.
  • Influence: You will be a key voice in the transformation, not just a manager of the backlog.

Your primary tasks and responsibilities include: Delivery

  • Build and maintain the strategic technology roadmap for your area, aligned with Core Banking's overall direction and architecture.
  • Lead the delivery of the team backlog, balancing transformation initiatives with day-to-day operations.
  • Set clear goals, remove impediments and ensure transparency on progress, decisions and dependencies.
  • Contribute technical insight to Core Banking's transformation and future solutions.
  • Drive the adoption of AI-assisted development in the team, and find new ways to work smarter and improve quality.
  • Manage vendor deliveries and collaboration with external partners.

People

  • Manage a team of 10–20 dedicated colleagues.
  • Build a high-performing team and foster professional growth through coaching, mentoring and development plans.
  • Align recruitment and skill development with the domain's roadmap and long-term needs.
  • Promote a culture of ownership, collaboration and shared accountability.

Stakeholders and business

  • Work closely with business stakeholders, product owners and architects to turn business needs into scalable solutions.
  • Take part in customer workshops and co-create new solutions together with the business.
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels.

Systems

  • Own the team's systems, platforms and data, ensuring operational stability, compliance and scalability.
  • Manage incidents and problems effectively, including SLA follow-up.
  • Oversee lifecycle management, audits, patches and technical vulnerabilities.
  • Ensure development follows architectural principles and guidelines.

To succeed you will have:

  • A relevant Master's degree, or equivalent experience.
  • A strong technical background, for example as a software engineer, architect or technical lead, and the confidence to engage in technical discussions and decisions.
  • Experience as a manager, team lead or technical leader in banking or financial IT.
  • Experience from Mainframe or core banking platforms as well as modern architectures.
  • Experience building technology roadmaps and translating strategy into concrete plans.
  • A proven track record of driving technology change and transformation.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience working in agile frameworks such as Scrum or Spotify.
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken.

It's nice to have:

  • Danish language skills, or at least an understanding of Danish, as much of the business dialogue, documentation and customer interaction is in Danish.
  • Experience from the Danish banking sector.
  • Experience managing external vendors.
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools.

As a person, you are curious, ambitious, and take ownership. You enjoy being close to both the technology and the business, and you get energy from building teams and solutions that make a real difference. Be your best self with BEC's benefits! We offer a diverse range of benefits for our employees. Here are just a few of them:
