Development Engineer

Want to build technology that can help make heavy industry a little greener? At Ammisorb, you won’t just be sitting behind a screen designing concepts. You’ll help build, test and improve the actual hardware behind a new way of recovering ammonia more efficiently. We’re a DTU spinout working on technology that can support smaller, more flexible green ammonia systems, and we’re looking for a Development Engineer who wants real ownership from day one. About Ammisorb We develop sorption-based technology for separating and recovering ammonia more efficiently. Our Sorption Booster captures ammonia in solid sorbents and releases it in a controlled way for recovery as a concentrated product. It achieves 99% ammonia extraction (vs. <70% for conventional chillers) at below 50 bar. The technology targets lower-pressure ammonia production, helping make smaller and more flexible green ammonia systems possible. Find more info on our webpage: https://www.ammisorb.com/ Role Purpose The Development Engineer will lead the design, development, assembly, integration, and testing of next-generation Sorption Booster systems. The role combines practical engineering work with system development activities, including mechanical and process design, component selection, prototype integration, troubleshooting, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. Main Responsibilities

• Drive the design and development of next-generation Sorption Booster systems and absorber units based on experimental data obtained from previous prototype generations
• Lead mechanical and process design of ammonia sorption systems, including P&IDs, piping layouts, heat integration, component integration, and subsystem development
• Prepare CAD models, technical drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and engineering documentation
• Take ownership of assembly, integration, and troubleshooting of experimental setups and prototype systems
• Identify, evaluate, and procure suitable components and equipment for prototype and pilot-scale systems
• Coordinate technical implementation with automation and control engineers
• Support field testing activities and collaboration with external partners and suppliers
• Lead safety assessments and implementation of safe engineering practices during system design and operation
• Independently propose and develop technical solutions for assigned subsystems and engineering challenges
• Support project coordination activities related to prototype development and testing

Desired Profile and Competencies

• MSc or BSc in mechanical engineering, process engineering, energy engineering, or related field
• 2–5 years of experience designing and building process or thermal equipment in R&D or industry
• Experience with 3D CAD (e.g. SolidWorks / Inventor) and practical engineering design
• Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, piping, workshop activities, and experimental systems
• Experience with prototype or pilot-scale systems is considered an advantage
• Experience working with safety-critical laboratory setups and pressurized process equipment (e.g. HAZOP/risk assessment, PED, ATEX, hazardous gas handling) is considered an advantage
