What you'll do

DATA STEWARD Comprehensive Job Description Role Overview The Data Steward ensures that the data used for sanctions screening, alert management, case handling, reporting, and watchlist processing is accurate, complete, and fit for purpose. You will work closely with business stakeholders, architects, engineers, and testing teams to establish robust data governance, drive data quality, and support successful programme delivery. What You Will Be Doing Drive Data Assessment and Discovery

  • Identify and document source systems providing data to Firco Continuity.
  • Assess payment and watchlist data sources to ensure they meet business and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyse data quality, completeness, and suitability for sanctions screening processes.
  • Produce and maintain data assessment documentation.

Lead Data Governance and Architecture Activities

  • Contribute to the design of the target screening data model.
  • Define and document data lineage across source systems, screening processes, reporting, and downstream consumers.
  • Establish data ownership, stewardship responsibilities, and retention requirements.
  • Support development of programme data architecture and reporting framework.

Own Business Data Definitions and Mapping

  • Define business meaning and usage of critical data elements.
  • Review and approve data mappings for payments, alerts, and case management information.
  • Ensure business requirements are accurately reflected in technical specifications.
  • Support creation and maintenance of mapping specifications and documentation.

Champion Data Quality

  • Define data quality standards, controls, and acceptance criteria.
  • Validate payment data and watchlist content throughout implementation lifecycle.
  • Review profiling, reconciliation, and validation results.
  • Identify, investigate, and drive resolution of data-related issues.

Support Data Integration and Readiness

  • Collaborate with architects and engineers on interface and integration requirements.
  • Review data transformation logic and interface designs.
  • Approve data quality thresholds and production data readiness.
  • Support deployment, go-live, and production validation activities.

Enable Reporting and Operational Transition

  • Ensure reporting data is accurate, complete, and aligned with business needs.
  • Support reporting transitions and operational handover activities.
  • Act as a key point of contact for data-related queries and issues during implementation.

Experience Required

  • Experience working in data governance, data management, data stewardship, or business data analysis roles.
  • Strong understanding of data quality, data lineage, metadata management, and data governance principles.
  • Experience with complex system implementations and data integration initiatives.
  • Experience within financial services, payments, sanctions, AML, or compliance programmes is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in large transformation programmes.
