Data Security Solutions Engineer

Overview Are you passionate about helping organisations protect their most critical data and navigate an increasingly complex security and compliance landscape? As a Data Security Solutions Engineer at Microsoft, you will help customers strengthen their data security posture, reduce risk, and build confidence in how their data is protected and governed. In this customer-facing technical role, you will act as a trusted advisor to CISOs, IT leaders, and security teams, helping them address data security, information protection, insider risk, governance, and compliance challenges. You will guide customers in understanding how Microsoft Purview and the broader Microsoft Security portfolio can support their security strategy and business priorities. You will lead the technical aspects of customer engagements, from discovery and solution design through technical demonstrations, workshops, whiteboarding sessions, and proof-of-concepts. Working closely with customers, account teams, partners, and engineering, you will translate complex security requirements into practical solutions, address technical blockers, and help customers move towards successful adoption. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong technical expertise with customer engagement, technical sales, and storytelling skills, and who enjoys turning complex security challenges into clear, actionable solutions. • Own the technical strategy for data security transformation opportunities, working with customers to understand their security, governance, compliance, and business requirements and align them with appropriate solutions.
• Deliver tailored technical demonstrations, solution presentations, workshops, and proof-of-concepts that address real-world data security challenges, including data protection, insider risk, and regulatory compliance.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor, helping customers understand how Microsoft Purview and related security technologies can support their data security, governance, and compliance strategies.
• Identify and remove technical blockers throughout the customer journey, escalating unresolved issues through the appropriate engineering and product support channels when required.
• Drive technical wins and customer outcomes by developing clear technical plans, managing risks and dependencies, and keeping engagements progressing towards successful solution adoption.
• Collaborate across account teams, engineering, support, and partners, including managed security service providers (MSSPs), to coordinate technical engagements and enable effective implementation hand-offs.
• Support successful adoption of Microsoft security solutions by connecting customers with relevant technical resources, workshops, support services, and partner capabilities.

Qualifications Required Qualifications

• Experience in technical sales, solution engineering, technical pre-sales, or consulting, with demonstrated experience engaging customers on complex technology solutions.
• Experience with data security, data governance, information protection, compliance, or related cybersecurity technologies, with hands-on technical knowledge.
• Experience with Microsoft Purview or equivalent data security, information protection, governance, or compliance solutions.
• Experience delivering technical demonstrations, workshops, solution presentations, and/or proof-of-concepts and translating complex technical concepts into clear customer and business value.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence technical and business decision-makers.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business or related field OR equivalent practical experience demonstrating strong technical and customer-facing capabilities.
• Fluency in English and Danish.

Preferred Qualifications -

• Experience working with the broader Microsoft Security portfolio, including technologies such as Microsoft Defender and Microsoft Sentinel, or equivalent security solutions.
• Experience designing or advising on enterprise data security, information governance, compliance, or security architectures.
• Experience working with CISOs, security leaders, IT leaders, and enterprise security teams on security transformation initiatives.
• Experience working with partners, systems integrators, or managed security service providers (MSSPs) in customer engagements.
• Relevant cybersecurity, cloud, data security, or compliance certifications.
• Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business or a related field.

Solution Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across Denmark is kr 726,700.00 - kr 1,320,000.00 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
