Cyber Security Engineer

Location: Stockholm, Sweden Employment Type: Contract Work Arrangement: On-site – 100% Assignment Period: 19 October 2026 – 28 February 2027 Seniority Level: Senior The Role Sperton is looking for an experienced Senior Cloud Security Engineer to join a technically advanced Cyber Defense environment. The assignment focuses on operating, troubleshooting, developing, and automating cloud-based security platforms and the data and telemetry pipelines that support modern cyber defense capabilities. Working primarily with Microsoft Azure, you will operate at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, security engineering, platform operations, and automation. You will take ownership of complex technical challenges and develop reliable, scalable, and sustainable production solutions. This is a Senior Individual Contributor role requiring strong hands-on engineering skills, independent problem-solving, and technical leadership. You will collaborate closely with SOC analysts, security specialists, and engineering teams to improve the reliability, performance, and security of critical platforms. What You'll Do

• Operate, troubleshoot, and continuously improve cloud-based Cyber Defense platforms in Microsoft Azure.
• Develop and maintain security telemetry pipelines and integrations between cloud infrastructure and security services.
• Build automation and platform improvements using Python, Terraform, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Monitor service health, data flows, performance, costs, and security.
• Support containerized environments and contribute to platform reliability and scalability.
• Lead technical initiatives, coordinate across teams, and make sound engineering decisions.
• Ensure solutions are reusable, secure, automated, and maintainable in production.

What We're Looking For

• Strong hands-on experience engineering and operating Microsoft Azure environments in production.
• Solid Linux/Unix skills, including troubleshooting virtual machines, containers, applications, and services.
• Practical Python development and automation experience.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), preferably Terraform.
• Experience with Git, version control, and modern CI/CD practices.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills in complex production environments.
• Strong technical communication and collaboration skills.
