What you'll do

About the job Do you enjoy working with industrial automation, control systems, and engineering validation in renewable energy? At Opoura, you will help ensure that our Power Plant Controllers (PPCs) operate reliably across different plant configurations, grid requirements, and real-world conditions. You will combine hands-on automation and control-system knowledge with testing, simulation, and technical validation. Your role You will join our Control & Communication department, which develops power plant controller solutions for wind, solar, battery energy storage systems, power-to-X, and hybrid power plants. Your focus will be industrial automation, controller integration, and validation. You will work with controller configuration, signals, communication interfaces, SCADA integration, simulation models, and test evidence to verify that our solutions perform as intended. You will also help automate repeatable testing and improve how engineering results are analyzed and documented. You will work closely with Control, Software, SCADA, Grid Modeling, commissioning, and Product teams. The position can be based in Silkeborg, Hannover, or Cluj-Napoca and follows a hybrid working model. Some travel is expected for collaboration, testing, commissioning, or related engineering activities. Your main responsibilities - Work with industrial automation and control systems to support PPC configuration, integration, troubleshooting, and validation. - Develop and improve automated testing workflows, including simulation-based tests, regression testing, and SIL/HIL environments where relevant. - Work with controller interfaces, communication protocols, signal mapping, and SCADA integration; investigate differences between expected, simulated, and observed behavior. - Build or improve scripts, test tools, result analysis, and technical documentation to make validation more repeatable, traceable, and useful for engineering decisions. To be successful in this position, you - Understand automation and control-system behavior and turn technical requirements into practical, reliable solutions. - Are comfortable working with controller configuration, industrial interfaces, signals, and engineering tools, including programming or scripting where needed. - Approach testing and troubleshooting analytically, explain results clearly, and collaborate across engineering disciplines. - Enjoy improving automation and validation workflows while staying close to real renewable energy systems. Your background You may be early in your engineering career or bring substantial experience. What matters is practical capability in automation and control systems, together with the motivation to develop your skills in PPC testing and validation. We imagine that you bring: - Hands-on experience with industrial automation, control systems, controller programming, configuration, or system integration. - Experience working with SCADA, signal mapping, industrial communication interfaces or protocols, and troubleshooting technical systems. - Programming or scripting skills relevant to automation, integration, or test tooling, such as Python, C#, or similar technologies. - Experience or familiarity with testing, simulation, and validation of control systems; SIL/HIL, MATLAB/Simulink, PowerFactory, or PSCAD is an advantage. - A relevant technical background in automation, electrical or control engineering, software engineering, or a related discipline, and professional proficiency in English. Renewable energy or PPC experience is an advantage. What we offer You will help shape how Opoura integrates, tests, and validates renewable energy controllers. The role combines hands-on industrial automation, control-system engineering, and structured validation in an international, cross-disciplinary environment.
