Control Software Engineer

Are you interested in combining embedded software development with power electronics and control engineering? Would you like to work with real industrial products where software, electrical engineering and physical systems come together? We are looking for a Control Software Engineer to join our customer project in Helsinki. You will work with advanced control solutions for electrical energy systems, power converters and industrial drives. This role is a particularly good match for someone who has a background combining software engineering and electrical engineering. You can already be an experienced professional, but the position is also reachable for mid-junior engineers with a relevant educational background and a solid foundation in both areas. As a Control Software Engineer You will work at the intersection of embedded software, power electronics and control systems as part of a larger industrial R&D environment. The work follows a hybrid model, with a minimum of two days per week onsite in Helsinki Metropolitan area. Your work can include: - Developing embedded control software for industrial drives and power conversion systems - Developing software using C, C++ and python. - Working with control algorithms and control loops - Testing and verifying software and control functionality - Working together with software, electrical and control engineering professionals What are we looking for? The key to this role is a combination of software development skills and a genuine foundation in electrical power and control engineering. Excellent communication skills in English is also mandatory, Finnish skills a big plus. On the software side, we hope you have: - Solid experience and knowledge of C and C++ - Knowledge of Python - Experience with Git version control - Basic understanding of software testing methods On the electrical and control engineering side, you should have a good understanding of: - Power electronics and electrical power engineering fundamentals - Control engineering and control loops - Feedback and feedforward control principles - Stability and dynamic performance of control systems - Concepts such as inverters, rectifiers, DC/DC converters and switching power supplies It’s a great plus if you also have familiarity with: - Unit testing and HIL testing - Continuous integration, Azure DevOps and Jenkins - Static code analysis - Embedded software development in large, multi-team R&D organizations You do not need to be an expert in everything listed above. What matters most is that you have a solid enough foundation in both software and electrical/control engineering to develop further in this environment. What do we offer?
