Specialised Nature of Skatepark Concrete Construction Concrete skatepark construction is a highly specialised trade that combines the skills of carpentry, reinforcement installation and advanced concrete finishing. It cannot be considered ordinary concrete construction alone. The worker must have extensive first-hand experience of skateboarding, preferably developed through many years of active participation in the sport. This experience is essential for understanding the geometric and functional requirements of skatepark structures and the way in which the finished surfaces are used by skateboarders. A thorough understanding of skatepark geometry, transitions, radii, slopes, elevations and three-dimensional shapes is critical. The worker must be able to understand not only the construction drawings, but also the intended skateable geometry represented by those drawings. This specialised knowledge enables the worker to recognise what is being constructed, understand how the geometry will function for skateboarders, and construct the required forms to the necessary dimensional accuracy and surface quality. The combination of long-term skateboarding experience, specialist skatepark construction experience, precision formwork, reinforcement work and advanced concrete finishing skills is therefore an essential qualification for this position. If you are qualified for the position, feel free to apply!
