Commissioning (Cx) Specialist, Data Centers

Do you want to help deliver the next generation of critical infrastructure on the frontline? Eltel is looking for a hands-on, proactive Commissioning (Cx) Specialist to join our growing Data Center team.

The role focuses heavily on the commissioning levels L1 to L5 of data center electrical systems. You have strong attention to detail, particularly in documentation and reporting.

You can be based at any of Eltel's 50 offices across Finland. We work in a hybrid model whenever the role allows.

Your key responsibilities

• Commissioning Execution (Levels L1–L5): Execute data center commissioning phases from factory acceptance testing (FAT) up to integrated systems testing (IST), covering levels L1, L2, L3, L4, and L5.
• Test Scripting & Documentation: Develop, review, and execute detailed commissioning test scripts, Method Statements, and inspection checklists for electrical infrastructure.
• Electrical System Testing & Energization: Coordinate and execute component and system-level testing for Medium Voltage (MV), Low Voltage (LV), MV & LV Switchgear, Transformers (TX), UPS systems, battery banks, SCADA and BMS/EPMS. Plan and supervise safe live-energization sequences.
• Load Bank & Functional Testing (L4): Manage dynamic functional testing, including load bank testing for UPS and generators, steps-load tests, and heat load testing to validate system stability.
• Integrated Systems Testing (L5 / IST): Attend to comprehensive blackout tests, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) testing, and redundancy validations to ensure the data center achieves full concurrent maintainability.
• HSE Leadership & Energy Isolation: Maintain rigid adherence to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) protocols. Manage complex Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols and specialized Permit to Work (PTW) systems to safely isolate energy during operational testing and live phases.

What We Are Looking For

• Technical Expertise: Solid technical understanding of data center electrical distribution systems (MV/LV cabling, TX, RMU, busbar, CB etc.) and backup power solutions (UPS, batteries, and generators).
• Commissioning & Testing Experience: Proven experience in electrical commissioning, technical testing, or quality validation roles within industrial sites, substations, or mission-critical data centers.
• Process Knowledge: Deep familiarity with data center commissioning workflows, standard L1–L5 definitions, and structured testing methodologies.
• Standard & Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of SFS and IEC standards and practical application of operational Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) methodologies in energized environments.
• Communication skills: Professional communication skills with the ability to operate comfortably in an English/Finnish-speaking project environment.

Desirable Skills (considered an advantage)

• Education: B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field (or an applicable strong technical trade background).
• Software Skills: Ability to navigate and work with CAD drawings, 3D models, or digital commissioning platforms (CxPro, Autodesk BIM, Revit, Dalux, Navisworks).
• Industry Experience: Prior deep exposure to high-security or large-scale mission-critical Data Center environments.
