Cleanroom Process Engineer

The opportunity SBT Instruments makes BactoBox, a benchtop instrument that helps people who work with bacteria make better decisions. It counts bacterial cells directly in about two minutes, and it is used in labs across Europe and the US. Every measurement depends on our flow cell, a microfabricated component that we make in the cleanroom at DTU Nanolab. Demand is growing, and we need to produce a significant number of flow cells over the coming months. This is a 9-month, entry-level position for an MSc or PhD graduate with up to two years of work experience. You will work four days a week in the cleanroom, mostly on your own, and one day at our office in Herlev. You will report directly to the CEO of SBT. What you will be doing

• Fabricating flow cells in volume, ready to be mounted in a cartridge and tested in our lab
• Troubleshooting process steps when their performance drifts, which happens even with a fixed process in a shared university cleanroom
• Strengthening the existing process documentation
• Tracking yield and suggesting improvements

What we are looking for Must have:

• An MSc or PhD in physics, nanotechnology, engineering, materials science or a related field
• Hands-on cleanroom experience at DTU Nanolab, including the DTU Nanolab training courses
• Existing working relationships with users and staff at DTU Nanolab
• The ability to work independently and stay motivated when working alone
• Patience and precision in repetitive, detailed work
• Fluency in English

Strong plus:

• Experience with the processes we use, such as thin-film deposition, wet etching of glass, wafer bonding, epoxy-based photoresists and lift-off
• Danish language skills
