Job Posting – CFO, Nordic Carbon Partners A/S Nordic Carbon Partners is looking for a CFO to finance and build the financial backbone for scaling a proven biochar model from first plant to an international portfolio of carbon removal facilities. About Nordic Carbon Partners Nordic Carbon Partners A/S is a Danish developer and operator of industrial biochar plants. We turn biomass residues into biochar, permanently storing carbon and delivering high-quality, certified carbon removal credits. Our first facility in Ghana was built from greenfield is now entering full-scale commissioning. At full capacity it will produce 10,000 tonnes of biochar a year and remove at least 25,000 tCO2e annually. Ghana is our proof of concept: the operating model is built to be repeated. A joint venture in the US Southeast is in development, with further sites in the pipeline. The company was founded by an experienced team with a track record in biomass trading and energy infrastructure. The role As CFO you will lead finance, funding and financial control as Nordic Carbon moves from one commissioned plant to a scalable, investor-backed platform. You report to the CEO, work closely with the founding team and the Board, and are part of the executive management team. Your mandate is to secure the capital for growth and give the company the financial structure, reporting and controls that investors, lenders and partners expect. Location: Copenhagen, Denmark, with regular travel to project sites in West Africa and the US. Key responsibilities

  • Lead fundraising at company and project level, including equity, project finance, debt and strategic partners
  • Build and maintain financial models for the company and for each new plant
  • Structure joint ventures, holding structures and project SPVs across Denmark, Africa and the US, including tax and transfer pricing
  • Own budgeting, forecasting, cash management and monthly reporting to management and the Board
  • Manage investor relations and lender reporting, and support due diligence processes
  • Secure and manage public funding, including the Danish Energy Agency's biochar carbon storage programme
  • Oversee the financial side of carbon credit sales, offtake contracts and revenue recognition
  • Build the finance function: accounting, audit, controls, ERP and a small team as the company grows
  • Manage financial and currency risk across multiple jurisdictions

Who you are

  • 8+ years in finance, ideally as CFO, finance director or in a senior role in a growth company, investment banking, private equity or infrastructure finance
  • A track record of raising capital and closing project finance or M&A transactions
  • Strong financial modelling skills and experience with capital-intensive industrial or energy assets
  • Experience in renewable energy, bioenergy, carbon markets or infrastructure is a strong advantage
  • Knowledge of Danish accounting, tax and corporate structures; international experience, preferably in emerging markets
  • Hands-on and comfortable in an entrepreneurial setting, able to build structure as you go
  • A clear communicator who earns trust with investors, lenders, auditors and partners
  • Fluent English; Danish or another Scandinavian language is an advantage
  • Relevant degree in finance, economics or accounting; state-authorised public accountant (statsautoriseret revisor) or CFA is a plus

What we offer

  • A key role in a company with a commissioned plant, a proven build model and a clear growth pipeline
  • Real impact: every plant removes tens of thousands of tonnes of CO2 each year
  • A competitive package with base salary, performance bonus and an equity or warrant programme
  • A committed founding team and Board with deep sector and transaction experience
  • Broad responsibility and significant influence on how the company is financed and structured
