Business Unit: Cubic Defense Company Details: Job Summary: The Business Development Manager – Europe is responsible for driving sustainable business growth across Europe through the identification, development and conversion of opportunities into profitable revenue streams. Working closely with customers, partners and internal stakeholders, the post holder will lead business development activities across assigned markets, developing strategic customer relationships, identifying future opportunities, shaping market engagement strategies and progressing opportunities through the sales and capture lifecycle to contract award. The role combines responsibility for market development, account management, opportunity creation and sales execution. Acting as Cubic's primary customer-facing representative within designated territories, the Business Development Manager will maintain strong relationships with partners, military users, government and industry stakeholders, ensuring Cubic remains well positioned to influence customer thinking, identify emerging requirements and secure future business opportunities. Job Details: The role will be responsible for developing and maintaining a robust sales pipeline, supporting strategic capture activities, providing market intelligence and delivering order intake and revenue objectives aligned to Cubic's European growth strategy. Success in the role will be measured through growth in pipeline value, opportunity conversion, order intake, revenue generation, market penetration, customer retention and the successful execution of business growth activities across the region. The position is a regional sales leadership role responsible for delivering revenue growth across mainland Europe through partner & customer engagement, account management, opportunity identification, sales execution and support to Cubic's European growth strategy. The Business Development Manager role is based in Sweden and operates on an onsite/flexible working arrangement. The position typically follows a Monday to Friday schedule, with occasional weekend work as required. The role also involves both Europe, UK and international travel, with an estimated 15% travel requirement, supporting business development activities and stakeholder engagement across multiple locations.

Essential Functions:

  • Deliver annual order intake, revenue and pipeline objectives within assigned territories.
  • Develop and execute territory, customer and account plans aligned with the European growth strategy.
  • Progress opportunities through the sales lifecycle from qualification through to contract award.
  • Maintain a healthy, accurate and sustainable sales pipeline.
  • Support the achievement of regional growth objectives through proactive customer engagement and opportunity management.
  • Provide accurate sales forecasting and regular pipeline reporting.
  • Account Management and Customer Engagement
  • Identify, qualify and prioritise opportunities aligned with Cubic's capabilities and strategic objectives.
  • Lead opportunity development activities within assigned territories.
  • Coordinate internal resources to maximise the probability of success.
  • Support bid and proposal activities alongside programme, capture and technical teams.
  • Drive opportunities through internal governance and approval processes.
  • Maintain opportunity records and forecasting information within approved business systems.
  • Maintain awareness of regional defence priorities, procurement programmes and investment plans.
  • Identify emerging markets, customers and capability requirements relevant to Cubic's portfolio.
  • Monitor competitor activity and assess implications for Cubic's market position.
  • Provide market insight and customer intelligence to European and Global leadership teams.
  • Support the development of market entry and growth plans where appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with strategic partners, suppliers and industry organisations.
  • Support teaming arrangements that strengthen Cubic's competitive position.
  • Represent Cubic at industry events, conferences and customer engagements.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration that support sales growth and market expansion.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Comply with Cubic’s Quality Management System.

Background and Experience:

  • Proven experience in sales, account management or business development within defence, training, simulation or a related sector.
  • Demonstrable track record of achieving revenue growth and securing new business.
  • Experience managing customers and opportunities across multiple countries.
  • Strong understanding of defence procurement and acquisition environments.
  • Experience engaging with senior military, government and industry stakeholders.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation and customer engagement skills.
  • Experience managing complex sales opportunities through to contract award.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively across a matrix organisation.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout mainland Europe.
  • Demonstrated success in leading large-scale projects or cross-functional initiatives with significant impact.
  • Strong ability to develop and execute creative solutions that align with wider corporate objectives.
  • Skilled in balancing strategic considerations and operational realities to navigate unique challenges.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Years of experience - 12 years
  • A Bachelor’s degree; a Master’s degree; or a PhD; or equivalent experience
  • Has held Clearence (Desirable)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Military experience or extensive experience supporting military customers.
  • Experience operating within European and NATO defence environments.
  • Knowledge of training, simulation and readiness capability markets.
  • Experience supporting strategic capture activities and complex bids.
  • Existing network within European defence organisations and industries.
  • Additional European language.
  • Experience working within multinational organisations.
