What you'll do

Location: Copenhagen, Denmark - On-site Type: Full-time Industry: Biotechnology | Biomanufacturing | Synthetic Biology About the Company We are working with an innovative Copenhagen-based synthetic biology company developing a genetic platform designed to improve the productivity and stability of production hosts and cell lines used in recombinant biomanufacturing. The technology links production to cellular fitness, helping cells maintain productivity for longer production runs and at larger scale. The platform has already been demonstrated across 20+ bioproducts, ranging from industrial enzymes and food proteins to pharmaceutical peptides and biologics. The company is now looking for a Business Development Manager to help grow and qualify its customer pipeline across the international biomanufacturing market. Why Join? You will join a growing team of approximately 25 people, where your contribution will be highly visible and your commercial results will directly influence the company's growth. You will become part of the commercial team and work closely with leadership, scientists and the client delivery team. The company offers a competitive salary package including bonus, together with the opportunity to bring an innovative and proven technology to biomanufacturing customers. The Role As Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying and developing new commercial opportunities across biopharma, CDMOs and bioindustrial companies. Your role starts with understanding the market: identifying relevant applications, companies and decision-makers. From there, you will initiate conversations, qualify opportunities and understand both the customer's technical needs and commercial potential. You will lead initial discovery and pitch meetings and work closely with the client delivery team to advance the most promising opportunities. Depending on your experience, you may also take responsibility for scope and commercial discussions. You won't be starting from zero. An established CRM, market databases, sales tools, active pipeline and existing prospective-partner dialogues are already in place. What You'll Do

  • Extend existing market mapping across applications, target companies and key decision-makers.
  • Run outbound prospecting and manage and prioritize inbound opportunities.
  • Lead initial discovery and pitch meetings to understand customer needs, technical fit and appropriate next steps.
  • Represent the company at relevant conferences, industry events and customer meetings.
  • Develop and tailor pitch decks, case studies and other customer-facing materials.
  • Coordinate customer proposals together with the client delivery team, including the customer narrative, scope, deliverables and timelines.
  • Maintain structured follow-up and accurate CRM management.
  • Depending on experience, contribute to or lead commercial and scope discussions with prospective customers.

What You Bring You have a scientific background in biotechnology, molecular biology, bioprocessing or a related discipline, ideally at MSc or PhD level. You bring approximately 3–5 years of experience in business development, technical sales or another customer-facing commercial role within biotechnology, biomanufacturing, CDMO services or platform technologies. You are comfortable discussing science with experienced technical audiences while also understanding the commercial side of a customer opportunity. Ideally, you have experience with:

  • Prospecting and qualifying new customer opportunities.
  • Presenting complex technical solutions.
  • Developing or contributing to tailored customer proposals.
  • Managing customer relationships and commercial follow-up.
  • Working systematically with CRM tools and sales pipelines.
  • Communicating clearly and professionally in English.

Experience with microbial or CHO production systems, an established biomanufacturing industry network or complex deal negotiations would be an advantage. The Person You are self-driven, commercially curious and genuinely interested in understanding the science behind what you sell. You enjoy opening doors and starting conversations, but you're equally comfortable listening carefully and determining whether there is a genuine technical and commercial fit. This is particularly important because you will be introducing a relatively new approach to experienced scientific and technical audiences. You'll therefore need the confidence to initiate conversations while having the judgement to know when to bring scientific colleagues into the discussion. Practical Details Location: Copenhagen, Denmark – on-site Travel: International travel for conferences and client visits should be expected Compensation: Competitive salary package including attractive bonus Language: Fluent English required; Danish is an advantage
