What you'll do

Consultant - Business Development & Commercialisation Lead Are you ready to be involved in the next generation of safety innovation? A growing scale-up focused on commercialising advanced safety technologies, including wearable protection, integrated protection systems, intelligent safety solutions and emerging next-generation technologies. Business Strategy, Growth & Commercialisation

  • We are looking for a commercially driven and entrepreneurial professional who can identify opportunities, challenge existing thinking and turn promising ideas into viable business opportunities.
  • The role will involve understanding market dynamics and customer needs, identifying emerging opportunities and developing the commercial strategies required to bring new solutions to market. You will assess potential business models, validate opportunities and work from early concept through to commercialisation and scale.
  • A key part of the assignment will be using market insight, customer feedback, competitive intelligence and emerging trends to guide strategic decisions and identify new areas for growth. You will also explore adjacent opportunities and help establish pathways for developing these into future commercial initiatives.
  • The role requires someone who can move comfortably between strategy and execution — someone who can see the opportunity, build the business case and then help make it happen.

Commercialisation & Portfolio Development

  • The role will take ownership of turning promising concepts and customer insights into commercially viable opportunities. This includes validating solutions with customers and partners, developing business cases and assessing the potential for scaling.
  • You will evaluate revenue potential, cost structures, profitability, investment requirements and longer-term value creation, providing senior management with clear recommendations on where to invest, scale or adjust priorities.
  • A key responsibility will be connecting customer feedback, commercial data and market insight to the ongoing development of the portfolio.
  • You will also establish revenue forecasts and value assessments for growth initiatives and ensure that progress is measured against clear commercial objectives.
  • The emphasis is on turning innovation into measurable commercial value rather than simply developing concepts.
  • This also fits very well with the title Strategic Growth & Commercialisation Lead – Interim Consultant that we discussed.

Growth & New Business Development

  • This role operates across both established growth and new venture creation. You will help scale existing commercial opportunities while simultaneously exploring new concepts where the market, customer need and business model may not yet be fully defined.
  • You will assess emerging technologies and business opportunities, conduct customer and market validation, develop commercial hypotheses and determine potential routes to market. The ability to move comfortably between structured growth initiatives and ambiguous, early-stage opportunities will be central to the role.
  • This is another reason I think Strategic Growth & Commercialisation Lead works well as the title—it captures both sides without revealing the underlying domain.

Ecosystem Development & Partnerships

  • You will play a key role in building and shaping the ecosystem required to support commercial growth and innovation. This includes developing relationships with customers, partners and industry stakeholders, creating strategic partnerships and establishing effective routes for market engagement.
  • A strong focus will be placed on continuous stakeholder dialogue, experimentation and rapid learning, using customer feedback and market insight to solve complex challenges and improve commercial outcomes.
  • You will also identify capability gaps and bring together the people, expertise, resources and partnerships needed to turn promising opportunities into viable solutions.
  • The role therefore requires someone who is not only commercially strong, but who can connect people, build trust, create partnerships and mobilise an ecosystem around an opportunity.
