What you'll do

What if buying bunkers was about much more than securing fuel at the right price? At NORDEN, it is. It is about understanding the market, spotting where value can be created and making decisions that can directly influence the commercial outcome of a voyage. Fuel sourcing sits close to the decisions that drive our business. Supplier partnerships, pricing, market exposure and when and where we bunker all have a direct connection to how we perform commercially. It puts our Bunkers team right where the market, our vessels and our trading activities meet. We are hiring a Bunker Manager in Copenhagen to support the growth of our Atlantic bunker desk. You will be closely involved in market activity, from spot buying and supplier discussions to bunker claims and post-fixture optimisation, while sharpening the commercial judgment and market awareness that support better decisions at critical moments. Why this role? A bunker enquiry can start with a simple question: where should we buy and at what price? But finding the best answer means understanding the market, the vessel, the voyage, the suppliers and the commercial picture around it. As a Bunker Manager, you will get close to all of it. You might start the day negotiating a spot purchase, later discuss alternative supply options with an operator and end it resolving a claim or looking at how a voyage could be optimised after fixture. Your closest stakeholders will be operators and charterers across NORDEN’s global offices, supported by specialists within risk management, market research and decarbonisation. You will bring your market understanding into these conversations, question where needed and help turn different perspectives into commercial decisions. You will be part of a team of five colleagues based across Copenhagen, Annapolis and Singapore. You will work closely together across markets and time zones, while having the space and responsibility to manage your own relationships, make commercial decisions and contribute your perspective to how we approach the market. What you will be doing To be more concrete, these are the core responsibilities that shape the role:

  • Manage inquiries and day to day trading or sourcing and support on contract negotiation and execution.
  • Negotiating bunker contracts and commercial terms alongside senior colleagues.
  • Contributing to post‑fixture optimisation across voyages and trades.
  • Handling and resolution of bunker‑related claims (quantity, quality, delays).
  • Engaging directly with suppliers and counterparties in the Atlantic market.
  • Working closely with chartering, operations and global bunker colleagues to ensure smooth execution.

As decarbonisation becomes an increasingly important part of our bunker strategy, you are curious to explore new areas such as biofuels, alternative supply structures and regulation. You enjoy learning new topics and, over time, turning insights into practical actions that support better decisions and commercial outcomes. As stakeholder interaction is a key part of the role, you enjoy building relationships in person and are open to occasional business travel. What you will bring You bring solid experience from the bunker market and are comfortable making decisions in an environment where markets move quickly and priorities can change throughout the day. You combine commercial judgement with a practical approach and know how to build good relationships with both suppliers and internal stakeholders. In addition, you bring:

  • Experience within bunker trading, procurement or a similar commercial bunker role.
  • An understanding of the bunker market and the factors influencing pricing, supply and availability.
  • Experience working with pricing mechanisms, benchmarks and premiums and using this knowledge in commercial negotiations.
  • Ability to negotiate effectively and approach supplier discussions and commercial decisions with assurance.
