BESS Solutions & Operations Engineer

Start: As soon as possible Employment: Permanent, with a 6-month probationary period Location: Stockholm Work mode: Hybrid About the role VIM Energy Systems is looking for an experienced BESS Solutions & Operations Engineer to join our technical team in Stockholm. The role combines BESS operations, solution engineering and technical project delivery. Initially, the position will have a stronger focus on supporting our operating BESS portfolio, while gradually taking greater responsibility in solution development, sales support and new project delivery. You will work closely with our Project, Service, Commercial and technical teams, as well as customers, OEMs and suppliers. Key responsibilities BESS Operations & Technical Support

• Monitor operating BESS sites, alarms and system performance.
• Analyse data from BMS, PCS, EMS/PPC and SCADA systems.
• Support battery operation, SoC management and functional testing.
• Support prequalification testing for ancillary services.
• Assist the Service team with troubleshooting, fault analysis and technical escalation.
• Coordinate technical issues with OEMs and suppliers and support root-cause analysis.
• Use operational lessons learned to improve future system design and procedures.

Solution Engineering & Sales Support

• Develop technical concepts and solutions for utility-scale BESS projects.
• Support BESS sizing, system configuration and equipment selection.
• Support Sales with technical proposals, customer requirements and tender documentation.
• Participate in technical discussions with customers, suppliers and partners.
• Identify technical risks, interfaces and design constraints.

Project Delivery

• Support engineering, commissioning, testing and handover of new BESS projects.
• Support integration of battery, PCS, EMS/PPC and electrical systems.
• Participate in FAT, SAT, commissioning and technical acceptance.
• Support grid compliance and prequalification activities.
• Assist Project Managers and technical leads with resolving technical issues during project execution.

Who we are looking for You should have:

• A university degree in Electrical Engineering, Electric Power Engineering, Energy Engineering, Automation, Control Systems, Software Engineering or a related field.
• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, including at least 3 years within power, grid, energy storage or a closely related energy industry.
• Experience in one or more of the following: electrical power systems, BESS, EMS/PPC/SCADA, automation and control, or energy/industrial software development.
• A good understanding of how electrical systems, control systems and software interact.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Experience working with customers, suppliers and multidisciplinary technical teams.
• A structured, proactive and ownership-driven way of working.
• Professional working proficiency in English.

• Battery systems, BMS and PCS
• EMS/PPC and SCADA system

• FFR, FCR, aFRR or mFRR
• Grid connection and grid compliance
• FAT, SAT and commissioning
• Modbus TCP / IEC 61850
• Python, SQL or operational data analysis
• DIgSILENT PowerFactory
• Swedish and/or Chinese language skills

Location This position is based in Stockholm and follows a hybrid working model. Regular presence in Stockholm is expected. Travel to project sites across Sweden, the Nordics and mainland Europe should be expected.
