Assistant/Associate Professor - Construction ManagementFull-timeAngola, Indiana SummaryThe Reiners Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Trine University invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor with a preferred start date of July 2027. We seek a dynamic, student-centered educator who will contribute to our mission of promoting intellectual and personal development through professionally focused and formative learning opportunities. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching, mentoring, and engaging undergraduate students in both classroom and laboratory settings while contributing to the continued growth of the construction management and civil engineering programs. The faculty member will be expected to teach construction management courses and support other areas of the curriculum based on departmental needs, including recruiting students for the construction management program. The candidate will also pursue scholarly and professional activities that enhance undergraduate education and strengthen industry engagement.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Teaching and Mentoring

  • Teach undergraduate construction management courses.
  • Teach courses in surveying, geographic information systems (GIS), and/or civil engineering materials.
  • Support instruction in foundational construction management and civil engineering courses as needed.
  • Develop engaging, hands-on learning experiences that emphasize conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and real-world applications.
  • Supervise undergraduate design projects, including capstone and experiential learning activities.
  • Maintain regular office hours and provide thoughtful academic and career advising.

Scholarship and Professional Development

  • Engage in scholarly or professional activities consistent with the university’s mission and focused on enhancing undergraduate education.
  • Involve undergraduate students in research, applied projects, or scholarly activities.
  • Present scholarly work at conferences and/or publish in relevant journals or engineering education venues.
  • Maintain professional engagement through participation in relevant professional societies and continuing professional development.

Service

  • Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities.
  • Contribute to student recruitment, outreach, and industry engagement initiatives.
  • Support ACCE and ABET accreditation processes and continuous improvement efforts within the construction management and civil engineering programs.

Education and/or ExperienceRequired Qualifications

  • M.S. in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field with at least five years of relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentoring excellence.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collegially in a collaborative academic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level (as instructor, lecturer, or adjunct).
  • Experience or strong interest in active learning, project-based learning, and laboratory instruction.
  • Record or potential for scholarly activity involving undergraduates (applied research, curriculum innovation, or engineering education).
