What you'll do

Type: Full-time

Location:Kuortaneenkatu 2, 00510 Helsinki

Application deadline: 8.9.2026

AirLife, a leading consumable breathing products company, is now looking for a Product Engineer to join their team in Helsinki.

What will you be doing?

As a Product Engineer, youll be responsible for usability engineering, technical drawings and documentation related to medical devices. Your main focus will be evaluating how product updates, regulatory requirements, and other changes affect product usability and patient safety. Usability work at AirLife is highly practical and regulated: youll analyze changes against relevant standards and internal procedures and maintain the required documentation. If appropriate, you will organize product usability testing with internal and external partners.

As usability tasks wont fill your entire workweek, youll also support mechanical engineering activities by updating technical drawings with CAD tools. Depending on your experience, you can also contribute to other product documentation and take ownership of smaller project entities. Youll work independently while collaborating closely with your own team, different project teams, and colleagues in the US.

What makes you a great fit?

To succeed in this position we hope you are keen to work in the MedTech sector. Were looking for an engineer who combines a solid foundation in mechanical engineering with an interest in usability and regulated product development. We appreciate previous work experience in similar tasks, but we don't expect you to know everything yet – with a suitable engineering background and interest in the field, you can learn much of the usability expertise on the job. Priorities can change quickly as new product updates are needed, making the role a good fit if you enjoy a varied engineering environment where not every workday looks the same.

We require you to:

  • A relevant educational background for example in mechanical engineering
  • Some relevant professional experience in engineering work, preferably in mechanical or product engineering
  • Understanding of mechanical design and the ability to work with CAD tools, preferably with Creo and Solidworks
  • Interest towards working in a Medtech sector
  • An interest in usability engineering, technical documentation, and working in a regulated environment
  • Are comfortable working with standards and documentation
  • A full working proficiency in English

We consider as an asset:

  • Experience in medical devices or another regulated industry
  • Previous knowledge or experience in usability engineering
  • Experience with PDM tools, eg. Windchill and Solidworks PDM

We can offer you:

  • An unique opportunity to build your usability expertise while applying your mechanical engineering skills in medical device development
  • A meaningful role where your work supports the safety and usability of products used in patient care
  • A possibility to work with interesting and important projects as well as with leading products that save lives
  • A chance to shape to role and develop your skills and grow within the company
  • A skilled and motivated team to support your growth
  • An open and relaxed atmosphere at the office
  • A flexible hybrid environment and a highly satisfied work community where long careers and low turnover speak for themselves

Practicalities:

This is a full-time position. You will be employed directly to Airlife. Start time in the role is as soon as possible. The role will be located in Helsinki, Finland. Salary in this position is 4500-5500 €/month (gross) depending on the level of your experience, and will be negotiated individually.
