AI Engineer – Public Sector

Senior AI Engineer – EU Project Location: EU-based / according to project delivery requirements Client: European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) Contract: Long-term EU project About the role SEIDOR is looking for an experienced AI Engineer to support the design, implementation and lifecycle management of artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions in an international EU environment. The role combines software engineering, machine learning, data engineering and modern AI technologies, including generative AI and LLM-based solutions. Main responsibilities - Design, develop and implement AI and Machine Learning solutions.

• Support the complete ML lifecycle, from experimentation and training to deployment and monitoring.
• Develop AI services and integrations using APIs and microservices.
• Build and maintain data pipelines supporting AI/ML use cases.
• Work with containerised environments such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Develop solutions using Python and other relevant programming languages.
• Support the implementation of Generative AI and Large Language Model solutions.
• Collaborate with developers, architects, data specialists and business stakeholders.
• Ensure scalability, maintainability and operational reliability of AI solutions.

Mandatory requirements - University degree and at least 6 years of IT professional experience, or at least 12 years of relevant IT experience without the required university degree.

• Minimum 4 years of professional experience designing and implementing AI solutions, including experience with Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Strong programming skills in Python, SQL and/or Java.
• Strong understanding of Machine Learning fundamentals and model lifecycle management.
• Experience with data pipelines and data processing.
• Experience with APIs and microservices.
• Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes.
• English level B2 or higher.
• Experience working in international and multicultural environments.

Mandatory certification Candidates must hold at least one relevant recognised AI / ML certification, such as: - Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer

• AWS Certified Machine Learning
• Google Professional Machine Learning Engineer
• Or an equivalent internationally recognised AI / ML certification

Nice to have - TensorFlow or PyTorch

• Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
• Azure AI Services
• Open-source AI frameworks
• MLOps / DevOps practices
• Experience in EU institutional environments
